A massively hopped strong pale ale brewed to celebrate our anniversary each year. Anniversary Ale is light gold to pale orange in color and offers a potent aroma of fresh pine and citrus with some warming alcohols present. The taste is a thick, chewy hop presence only barely contained by balancing malts. The finish is pure hop expression with a moderate warming alcohol sensation. Hops – Columbus, Amarillo and Simcoe; dry-hopped with Columbus and Amarillo. Body – Medium.
Availability – Late Spring / Early Summer Release. Ranges from 10%-11% ABV.

Oh this brew is rich and lush on the tongue with a heavy malt backbone and strong hop shards that cut right through the blubber. Sip this one cold on a hot night. Deeply golden in color with long head retention and strong aromatics.

I can’t understand the other comments on this beer. It’s truly amazing. I thougt double IPA wasn’t my style anymore but this one blowed my mine. Nearly no malt flavour at all, this is all about grape, the aroma is the only thing that says it’s a double IPA and not a regular IPA. The high ABV is well hidden in the big amount of hops. I´m in love with this beer . Port Brewing is one of the best breweries ever.

Aroma is hop/candy, pine and sweetish malts. The flavor is fruit/berries, hops, mild/medium sweetness in the middle, malts and a very long and very bitter/mild heat in the finish.

From Zombier. 6? 66cl. In Teku glass. Playing Broken Sword 4. Very resinous. Reminds me my beloved Pseudosue but this one is just a tiny step below because its higher ABV, which is very well hidden but goes up to the head pretty quickly

I dream of making a beer like this someday. Has real triple threat bite with alcohol, bitter and carbonation all hitting you at once. Really must let this one warm up and fizz out a bit so it can bloom in all it’s glory. Tantalizing malty grain nose. Dry in the mouth. Numbs the lips quick and everything else soon after. Yeah Baby! I detect some Scotch and caramel here. Mesmerizing.

For the longest time I was on a real drought when it came to IPA’s and double IPAs. Now that I’ve discovered the Craft Ale House in Limerick, I am now most definitely on a roll. Thanks to the folks over there at the CAH, I have been the recipient of a huge amount of great (I)IPAs. I have sampled a good amount on draft there, and taken home a good amount of bottles. This Impy IPA was an impulse purchase of mine out of their enourmous selection of bottled brews. With this one, along with quite a few others, I am definitely falling in love with the West Coast-style of (I)PAs. They have this sweeter nose than those from the East Coast, and that makes an IPA that much more enjoyable. And this offering is no different. This double IPA just has that fruiter and sweeter nose that a lot of other IPAs don’t have. The beer pours a darker copper color with a slight haze. The head is off-white and sticks beautifully to the edges of the glass. As mentioned, the nose is intoxicating, with notes of pine, grapefruit, hops, earth, bread and coriander. The body is full, but completely drinkable and deliciously enjoyable. The flavors are well-rounded and balanced, with notes of citrus, grapefruit, lots of hops, grass, earth and a bit of bread. The finish is also quite balanced, with notes of citrus, bread, spicy hops and toast. This is one damn good double IPA. I’m glad I know where to get more!

On tap. Opague orange color, it just looks like pulpy mush from some tropical fruit. The aroma was sweet melon and loads of grapefruit. Wow. Citrus and resinous hops about, very complex. This is mouth-puckering hoppy and super thick...like a hoppy milkshake.

22 ounce bottle (bottled 4/8/2014) poured into a tulip. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with 3 fingers of off-white head. Head fades slowly and leaves nice lacing behind. Fantastic lacing throughout drinking it. Aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, floral notes, piney hops. Tastes of tropical fruit, citrus, pine/resin, light booze, floral notes, piney hops, a bit of honey. Medium body with a dry finish. Juicy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Another really nice double IPA from Port Brewing.
