COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Port Brewing beers are typically boldly-flavored American and hop-forward West Coast style ales or lagers, and Board Meeting Brown Ale is no exception. An amplified brown ale, the beer is brewed with liberal additions of coffee from local San Diego roasters, Ryan Brothers, and cocoa nibs sourced from famed San Francisco chocolate maker TCHO. Alcohol by volume is 8.5%.

“Board Meeting offers the malty richness and assertive hop presence that you expect in an American brown ale, but enhanced with pronounced roasted coffee and bitter chocolate aromas and flavors,” Arthur said. “I think people will enjoy this beer by itself and at the table paired with meat dishes like pork, roasts and barbeque. I imagine it’d be pretty good washing down a sausage omelet at breakfast too.”

Pours extremely dark, like motor oil. Definite coffee aroma. Burnt, dark roasted coffee. Creamy flavoring, hints of battery acid.

Tap. Deep brown with small head. Rich malt with big chocolate and light coffee. Good flavor to this beer. Bordering on porter-ish.

Very dark brown to black, heady from a room temp bomber chilled a few hours, heavy hiss opened. Almost 2 years old. Aromas of sourish day old coffee or months old for that matter, chocolate and a heavy anise character but I can see that as part of the coca nibs having eaten them before. Coco nibs seem to dominate now that I think about it. There is some complexity and this reminds me of a barley wine as well some. Malty mealy rich roast chocolate anise. I like this a lot better than most strong ales. Its a pretty creamy ale slick and smooth as well. I think I would rather try this when its fresher though.

Nice aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, though the flavor was a little better. The body was great...medium bodied and full flavored while not really showing the abv. The cocoa on the palate was wonderful...bitter and only slightly sweet, with a nice interplay between the malts, the cocoa, and the coffee. Hope to see this again."

Draft sample at the brewery. Pours about like a porter. Aroma is nice roasted malt and milk chocolate. Rich flavor reminiscent of hot chocolate. Nice.

Really nice dark brown. Intense coffee ok the nose, but so much other than expected. The coffee does well with the general mellowness of the brown ale. One of the best browns ive ever had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Love port brewing, great coffee notes from this smooth brown ale. Thick chocolaty head that stays for the full glass

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2014 I suspect they are right, it probably is delicious washing down a hearty breakfast with. Good with a barbeque, too. Rich roasted malts, dark coffee, chocolate, earth, oak. The aroma has a touch of something sweet...stone fruits perhaps. Totally brown ale, imperial style. Very nice
