COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Port Brewing beers are typically boldly-flavored American and hop-forward West Coast style ales or lagers, and Board Meeting Brown Ale is no exception. An amplified brown ale, the beer is brewed with liberal additions of coffee from local San Diego roasters, Ryan Brothers, and cocoa nibs sourced from famed San Francisco chocolate maker TCHO. Alcohol by volume is 8.5%.

“Board Meeting offers the malty richness and assertive hop presence that you expect in an American brown ale, but enhanced with pronounced roasted coffee and bitter chocolate aromas and flavors,” Arthur said. “I think people will enjoy this beer by itself and at the table paired with meat dishes like pork, roasts and barbeque. I imagine it’d be pretty good washing down a sausage omelet at breakfast too.”

Poured from the bomber nice dark brown ale. Tasting the coffee and a bit of the chocolate goes well with the spice of the hops and the 8.5% is straight.

Huge beige head doesn’t last. Nearly opaque black body. Cold coffee and earthy vanilla aroma with chocolatey notes. Sweet earthy coffee taste with wooden bubblegum notes. Full-bodied. Mild, flat, smooth mouthfeel. Sweet earthy wooden coffee aftertaste with burnt toast notes. Artificial, overly burnt, overly sweet mess. Will not buy again. (0.65l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

Draught at Idle Hour, North Holywood, CA 24.4.16. Black with a tan head. Dry cocoa nibs, a little green coffee and muddy aroma, very much coffee, dry and bitter taste. Full body, bitter and somewhat sourish coffee finish.

Draft at the Lost Abbey 10th Anniverary Party. Lots of chocolate and nutty goodness. Both in the aroma and in the flavor. Pretty good stuff.

Had this in my basement for a month, standing upright, undisturbed so i was siprised that it exploded when i opened it as if it gad been freshly shuck. The aroma while i was xleaning up yhe kitchen counter/floor was fantastic. Roasty and sweet smelling with coffee, chocolate, and caramel. Black pour with a nice thick light brown head. Taste follows nose. More sweet than roasty, slight bitterness note towards finish. Palate is soft and creamy, not heavy at all while still offering good body.

Dark brown, opaque, with a thick two-finger tan head with very nice lace. Strong coffee aromas with hints of chocolate and malts. Excellent bittersweet dark chocolate flavor with rich roasted coffee. Full body, gentle carbonation, creamy smooth mouthfeel and a wonderful balance of chocolate and coffee in the finish.

0.65 bottle. Dark brown color and a small, off-white head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, and dark chocolate. The taste generally follows the same directives with perhaps tiny alterations as to the proportions. A full body, a thick texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is also relatively malty but it does feature some unexpected, yeasty flavors. Overall this is a good beer, worth retrying.
