COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Port Brewing beers are typically boldly-flavored American and hop-forward West Coast style ales or lagers, and Board Meeting Brown Ale is no exception. An amplified brown ale, the beer is brewed with liberal additions of coffee from local San Diego roasters, Ryan Brothers, and cocoa nibs sourced from famed San Francisco chocolate maker TCHO. Alcohol by volume is 8.5%.

“Board Meeting offers the malty richness and assertive hop presence that you expect in an American brown ale, but enhanced with pronounced roasted coffee and bitter chocolate aromas and flavors,” Arthur said. “I think people will enjoy this beer by itself and at the table paired with meat dishes like pork, roasts and barbeque. I imagine it’d be pretty good washing down a sausage omelet at breakfast too.”

Draft at Bukowski’s Tavern in Cambridge, MA. Roasty dry coffee. Strong bodied but relatively straight, solid ale. Darker stout-like notes.

Bottled. A red-brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, dark chocoltae, and alcohol, leading to a dry finish. Love the name.

Pours an opaque medium-dark brown with a caramelized color, cottony, fluffy head. Smoky, bready nose. The mouthfeel is chewy, has just the right amount of carbonation, and perfectly compliments the other components of the beer. The flavor is amazing. Truly. Pizza Port’s "patented" griddle grease smoke in spades. The flavor is so well balance with excellent depth. This is one of the best beers in this style I’ve ever had. Maybe THE best.

Dark brew with strong aroma and taste of coffee and chocolate. Pretty good for a brown ale and closer to a stout.

On tap at Capone's in Norristown, PA. Do I just not have a taste for brown ales? I feel like it is a mix of types that just doesn't work. Maybe it was just the beers I had during this KBS event. Maybe it was because I tried then after KBS. So many questions.

On tap at Backcountry Pizza poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of toasted malt, cocoa, carmel and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, cocoa, toasted malt and light coffee with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.
