COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brother Levonian Saison is a Farm House style beer brewed to celebrate the life of Dave Levonian. Our friend Dave was a husband, father, homebrewer and a very approachable guy. He was basically just one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He passed away in 2008 at was too young of an age. Dave’s passing left a bunch of us looking for ways to celebrate his involvement in the community of brewers in San Diego. The one thing we all knew about Dave was that he loved Saisons...LOVED them. In this bottle, we have recreated one of Dave’s recipes in the hope of honoring the memories he left us. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer will go to a college fund that was created for Dave’s daughter. We thank you for supporting his legacy with each bottle.

750ml bottle from the brewery release during the 3rd Anniversary Party. A very tasty Saison style beer. Light golden color with good head development. Pleasant aroma of pear, lemon peel and potpourri. Flavor is a blend of orange, light grapefruit, finished off with a dry hops bitterness. Medium body with a bone-dry character on the palate. Overall nicely balanced and refreshing. Easy to drink. Yummy. 10th rating, I’m putting this one in the book.

Bottle (dregs)... Pours murky and lightly golden with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The aroma is very fruity and lightly spicy – a mélange of tropical fruits, clove and mandarin orange. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor is sweet, tangy and very fruity with a lesser note of clove. Moderate grassy bitterness provides a real semblance of balance. Finishes tart and refreshing.

Pour courtesy of hopscotch. Big thanks for letting me try this rare saison. Pours a hazy orange. Nose is a menagarie of tropical fruits. Tangerine and mango stick out with some horsey brett funk and soil notes. The flavor is mildly spicy with lots of pepper and coriander. Super dry in the mouth. Lots of citrus and tangerine. Slightly grassy hops. Very complex. Light and refreshing. This is a great saison.

Pours out a hazy orange gold with creamy foam. Sweet, spicey, citrus, and floral flavors. Nice funky earth, bready grain flavors. Crisp dry finish, refreshing. Great farmhouse style ale.

A very nice saison. Hazy yellow/orange pour, fluffy white head. Soem floaters. Spicey with grass, lemon zest, grain, floral hops, some sweet candy sugar, and yeast. Tasty and refreshing.

Bottle from Joey at South Bay Drugs: With a generous pour this saison created a thick eruption of foamy head while the liquid was an opaque glowing yellowish orange. Aromas are of a fruity and floral scent and smell as sweet as a scented candle with the alcohol going almost unnoticed. The flavor is a strong dosage of true Belgian farmhouse style fashion yeast with an obvious mention of citrus and tangerine peels in full effect. This comes across way harsher than the ABV would of lead me to believe and finishes with a strong metallic reminder. Towards the end of the yeast became over bearing but none the less this was a prime American made saison.

Released at the Anniversary Party. Beautiful, sad label, by the way. A very well done saison. Citrus and funk play together quite nicely in the nose. The flavor is a bit spicy, with a soft, creamy background. Notes of grass and toffee. Nice bitterness at the end. Definitely one of the better saisons I have had recently; I look forward to aging this one! Recommended!
