ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Dec 23, 2008 Amber colored. Aroma is usual PNW goodness with notes of grapefruit, citrus, pine, etc. Caramel malt balances a medium to slightly light body. Good stuff. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA Dec 21, 2008 Another strong IPA from Port Brewing. Poured a hazy gold with a good sized white head. Moderate amount of hops with grapfruit being the most dominant. Good beer. MrChopin (621), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2008 Thanks to kegbear for the bottle! Hazy golden amber, soapy white head. Nose is very hop driven, citrus in grapefruit and slight sweetness from the peach, and there is a little spice. Gets a little alcoholic by the end. Flavor is more bitter but there is still plenty of fruit. Moderate body with nice palate, and the finish is long in hop bitter and slightly odd creamy note, rather minor though. Overall tasty stuff, very quaffable. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Dec 19, 2008 Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours hazy golden with a fine, creamy, white film head. Stays for an okay duration. Wonderful fresh fruity aroma. Lots of oranges, grapefruit, apples and pineapple. Some bready malts behind it. Highish carbonation, wonderul oily and dry mouthfeel. Truly great mixture of hops and malts. Very much pineapple, some strawberry, lots of oranges. Tastes like fresh hops with woody notes. Lightly warming and very dry. Extremely nice and balanced beer. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 18, 2008 Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin, grass).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Very straightforward, ordinary, and boring, but the bitterness is fairly clean and non-abrasive. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 17, 2008 Bomber 2008. Pours a crazy chill haze murky pukey yellowish gold with a nice lacing white head and some solid lace- that chill haze sucks though. Aroma is nice fresh green hops, some citrus pine needles, orange zest and a bit of grapefruit but also there is a huge amount of nutty doughy dirty yeast that is too much for an IPA. These guys may need to clean their yeast, or start fresh or something. Flavor is nice and hoppy as well- tons of PNW fresh hops, not over the top or anything that will push your hop tolerance up, but still nice- more doughy yeasty dirty character, and a light malt sweetness. the hop bitterness on the back of the palate is pretty solid. This is a weird beer in that I like it and dont like it at the same time. I guess I drank the bomber pretty quick so I must like it more. scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber-gold, with a thin white head, good lacing, a little bit of sediment. Smells of pine, melon and citrus. Medium-thin, smooth body. Fairly bitter pine resin and grapefruit flavor from start to finish, with a subtle fruit-malt undertone. A very solid and delicious IPA, but does not have as many subtle hop characteristics as some other wet-hopped IPAs. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Dec 16, 2008 pours a cloudy yellow-orange with an off-white foamy head, good lacing.
smell is of grapefruit, citrus, some caramel, pine, and a touch of sweetness.
taste is creamy, nice fruity grapefruit, some toffee, hops, grassy, ends very bitter.
