nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear gold color with a three finger white head. Aroma of citrus hops and pine. Flavor was citrus and pine with a slight malt note. Medium body with good carbonation. GAManiac (1124), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 12, 2008 Updated: Oct 25, 2008Pours a bright, clear pale golden with a puffy white head that lingered for a while leaving good lacing. The smell was citrus hops, mainly lemons with a bit of grapefruit, with a bit of pine. Not nearly as fragrant as I expected. The taste mirrors the aroma with some citrus and pine on top of a bready malt backbone. There is a decent hop bitterness but nothing overpowering. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with decent carbonation and a slight hop stickiness. I enjoyed this one but I really think I would enjoy it much more fresh. Compared to the fresh Hop 15 I had recently, it just doesn’t stack up. I will seek a fresh bottle of this one when it’s released again.
Edit: Had a fresh bottle on 10/25/08 and it was much better/fresher than the first. Much better pine hop presence in the nose and taste. vadersnightcap (80), Scotland Jul 21, 2008 Piney, resinous genius.
killer IPA
Like licking out the inside of a hop bag (in a good way!)
amazing pineapple and grapefruit hop flavours in the finish
hop-tastic! rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 14, 2008 Pours a hazy murky dark yellow with a nice soapy white head. There is quite a bit of sediment in this one. Aroma of hops, malt, citrus. Flavor is hops, citrus, pine, resin, and lots of malt to balance it out, but not so much that it becomes overly sweet. Good IPA. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2008 Updated: Dec 9, 200822oz bottle from Ughsmash pours cloudy medium-dark yellow with a white head. Nose of dank greens, nutty hops and a bit like caramel malt. Flavor is overipened pineapple and mango and green, leafy herbs. Medium to heavy bitterness, somewhat fresh but also has some wet bread/malt/nut flavor. blutt59 (2045), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 18, 2008 bottle, yellow cloudy color, pineapple and bitternes on the nose, flavor is pineapple, guava, and bitter lemon, finish is dry and bitter also, a good IPA SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 13, 2008 Pours a cloudy copper color, after rotating the bottle to stir up the sediment in the bottom. Nice foamy white head lasts a while. Great hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and pine. Very similar in taste, lots of hops with some malt. Quite bitter on the finish, with a hint of soapyness, but not in a bad way. Actually overall very good. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 12, 2008 Very nice, very fresh, not to disappoint, nectorine hue, fruity centennial hops, hint of citrus fruit, creamy white head, very smooth, medium body, light nector, drank alot lot without rating but this made me want to rate. hmmmm
