The head was white and dissipated over a few minutes to a tattered film. Attractive aroma of distinct grapefruit, orange peel, and crushed pine needles. Wow. There was also a whiff of sweat. The flavor was also overwhelmingly hop dominated approaching the harshness threshold. A hop bag bursting at the seams with spruce and citrus flavors. Sweat also made an appearance as it did in the nose. A taste of meek malty caramel hid in the background. Delicately sweet with assertive hop bitterness that peaked at 8 out of 10 and lingered a while. Lots of hops. ante (2928), Stockholm, Sweden

Long bitter and crisp finish of grapefruit, orange-peels, flowers and grass. Wonderful "in-you-face" IPA. omhper (12171), Stockholm, Sweden

Rich aroma of grapefruit and peach. When it warms lychee takes over. Fairly sweet and clean, medium bodied with crisp mouthfeel, Fresh and quite intense shampoo-like hoppiness. Plesant really butter finish. A straightforward IPA offering just what I expected - and my expectations were high! stefanje (938), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Updated: Sep 27, 2008650 ml bottle from Bev4less in Santee. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold color with a big white foamy head that lasts and lasts. The aroma is strong with a big blast of citrus, pine and fresh herbs. The flavor is crisp with biter hops taking the forefront, rounded out by grapefruit, thyme and walnuts. The mouthfeel is full and satisfying though at times seemed a bit harsh and gritty. Finishes long and biter with lingering sweetened grapefruit. Overall: An outstanding IPA, and a must for hop-heads. Re-rate note--sampled a fresh glass at Lost Abbey Brewery today, the gritty/harshness that I previously noticed was not present, so I’m raising my rating by a point. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Shared by who else but Dickinsonbeer. Pours a slightly hazy light amber/orange in color with a medium off white head. In the nose, a ton of fresh resinous, citrus and pine hops-malt doesn’t even come through at all. Taste is also a big blast of fresh, leafy hops- grapefruit, harsh pine (chinook), resinous and earthy. Malt backbone is there to offer some stability, but this one is all about the fresh hops. Finishes with a tacky and strong bitter finish. Pretty one dimensional, but I definitely enjoyed it. Thanks Paul for opening this. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold body under a small fizzy off-white head. Very light lazy carbonation. Nice floral and slightly citrusy nose with some bready malt. A little more toned down than expected for Port. A lot more bitter and hoppy than the nose let on though! Huge grapefruit bomb with a sticky, resiny, bitter finish. Minimal malt flavor, but it impacts the mouthfeel quite a bit. It lends a slightly fluffy and sticky doughiness that makes it a little clingy. Nice fine moderate carbonation. Another high quality IPA from Pizza Port, wish that I could try this on cask! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Pours a cloudy golden color into the lager glass. A very citrusy, hop scent. Fabulous grapefruit and orange aromas that dominates. Not much of a malt flavor, so this is pretty one dimensional. A big hoppy beer that is a must for hop heads.
