| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Updated: Sep 17, 20079/16/2007: Port Brewing High Tide Fresh Hop I.P.A. pours a bright golden yellow and is mostly clear. The lasting, dense off-white head is frothy and creamy and leaves some foamy lacing. There is a tornado of lively carbonation in the very center of the glass. The aroma is hoppy with candied citrus peel (tangerine and grapefruit) and some scarce resin/pine. There is also some underlying sweet hoeny maltiness. The flavor begins just the opposite of the aroma with the pleasantly sweet clover honey maltiness followed by a grapefruit and floral hop bitterness that is moderate in strength and lingers on the palate. However, the finish seems to get a bit soapy toward the bottom of the bottle... This beer is extremely well-balance and has a medium, slightly syrupy body that is quite smooth. This is an excellent IPA that is very true to the style!
1 pint 6 fl. oz. bottle (6.5% alc. by vol.) from realale420. Thanks Brian! Rating #133 for this beer... footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

When I opened this bomber and started to pour it into my glass I could already get an aroma of hops, very nice. I drank this cold after a hot run this last summer. It was scarily refreshing and is direct competition with Smuttynose as my fav IPA. bitbucket (2031), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2007 Bomber. Pours a clear bright amber with a fluffy, lacy white head. Aroma of pineapple and grapefruit. Medium-to-light body and moderate carbonation. A bit of malty sweetness and fruit up front, leading to a bitter and not quite crisp finish that has a building resinous quality as I get closer to the bottom of the glass. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2007 Bottle: Poured a cloudy beige color ale with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of medium citrus and bitter hops is somewhat less intense then I would have hoped. Taste is dominated by medium bitter and citrus hops with a lack of malt to balance the beer together. Body is pretty full with limited filtration with some low carbonation. I am not sure if I did get a bad bottle but I was not overly impressed by this one. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2007 Cloudy orangey-blonde body with some big bubbles acting as a head. A truckload of floral hops on the nose. That is one citrusy beer. This is not the type of beer where caramlized-malts lead a citrusy hops final. No, in this case the citrusy hops flavour took over the entire body/beer. The full body indicates that there’s plenty of malts but they remain somewhat quiet flavour-wise. Honeyed cereals meet caramelized candied citrus. Juicy (very juicy) bitterness. Tasty. That type of fresh hops beer is obviously at its best straight out of the brewery but unfortunately my bottle was a good 6 months old when I drank it. One could say I was too late to catch the high tide at its peak. blankboy (3201), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2007 Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry and tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy orange with an average size diminishing white head. Very nice, fresh hoppy aroma -- citrusy, resiny, spicy and more. Flavour’s refreshing and thirst-quenching -- like a fresh cask ale. Starts slightly sweet and then a hop medley hits you -- so nice! Medium bodied. Simply put, an awesome IPA!
