On tap at Port. Clear golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine with fruit notes. Chewy palate with strong pine bitterness and citrus taste.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy beige color ale with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of medium citrus and bitter hops is somewhat less intense then I would have hoped. Taste is dominated by medium bitter and citrus hops with a lack of malt to balance the beer together. Body is pretty full with limited filtration with some low carbonation. I am not sure if I did get a bad bottle but I was not overly impressed by this one.

Re-rate, bottle courtesy of hapjydeuce: Golden hazy pour, full white head. Great retention and lacing was solid. The aroma was strong grapefruits, some spicey herbal notes. The flavor was much the same, strong grapefruits. The mouthfeel was full bodied. A solid IPA, although not as good from the bottle as my first experience on cask. Thanks, Justin! Original rating: On cask at Flagstaff Brewing, poured a standard golden yellow to orange-ish color, nice foamy head, great retention, outstanding lacing. Aroma was very strong grapefruit and citrus hops. Flavor followed suit, rather strong grapefruit hops, more grapefruit, and then more grapefruits, very nice since I love citrus hops in an IPA. Mouthfeel was excellent, full and creamy for the style (gotta love a cask). Similar take on the style as my favorite Stone IPA, although Stone IPA seems to throw in a bit of resinous notes to be less than one dimensional.

This IPA pours with an orange body topped by a thin to medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is sweet, hoppy and grapefruity with a slight pine note and a little apricot. The flavor is slightly sweet yet bitter and piney with a very bitter finish. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly dry.

Another awesome SoCal IPA. This one pours a crystal clear, pure medium golden color with a large, well retained, spongy white head. Intricate columns of ribbony, thick lacing look like some sort of ancient script one would find in a cave. The aroma is very green and very fresh, as the name indicates. Drying pine resin meets strong notes of freshly cut grass and dried herbs. Some dry grains, citrus, and lemongrass are all present as well. The flavor is even drier than the nose indicates. Wheat comes through as a backdrop, with just a touch of buttery toffee for sweetness. Immediately, though, the bitter hops take over and dry things out like an oven. Orange and grapefruit burst through on the palate, accompanying the grassy, resinous flavors. The body is medium in stature and extremely crisp. The moderately long finish is dry and bitter. Overall, a very solid IPA hat goes down easy and leaves you longing for more. SoCal rules this genre.

22oz bottle. thanks to SDbruboy for this one. I think this was bottled 1-2 months ago. pours hazy dull gold with white head. the hop aroma has faded considerably, some faint citrus and green hop notes while the biscuity malt is comes through. flavor is still pretty bitter but the hop flavor has become muddled a bit, a greeny citrus and piney profile that is sharp but not extremely fresh and lively. either its the hops or the carbonation but it seems a bit prickly. med body. tasty but i can’t wait to re-rate a fresher bottle next year.3.4.

bottle, very fresh 2008 sample that i enjoyed quite a bit more than my previous rating, nose of lime, citrus, and green, flavors of green, citrus and orange. a very citrusy wet hop beer.3.7.

Bottle; Poured a gold with hints of orange. One of the more gold IPAs that I have seen. Didnt get much head; small to medium and white. Aroma of citrus hops and grapefruit; some malt, but much more hops in the aroma. Really good flavor and body; Clean dry finish. Besides the grapefruit, caramel malt, pine and yeast. Deserves its high rating.
