I poured a 22 oz bottle into a snifter. Dated 9.21.11, this probably would have been better a month ago, but I’ve been busy with harvest offerings from Founders, GDBC, etc. So, when I found this at the bottle shop, I couldn’t resist adding one more wet hop, even if it is a bit past its prime. As usual, Port didn’t disappoint. With a cloudy orange body dotted with floating yeast bits, this raised a 2-finger rocky white head from which emanated a seriously simcoe-ish hop aroma. Flavors followed suit, in classic west coast ipa style, though this is both lighter in body and sweeter in the finish than some in that genre. Port has other things that I like better, and there are other wet hop ales that I prefer to this one. Still, if you put Port and fresh hops together, you’re going to get something good, and this is it.

Let, frisk og let drikkelig øl med frugt og citrus smagsnoter og lidt flygtig eftersmag, hvor bitterheden desvære aldrig rigtig træder i karakter [APK: 6.5]

Bottle from BrewDog mail order. Poured a slightly hazy golden, with a dense white head. Aroma of apricot, perfume and straw. Bitter initial flavours of grass and tart grapefruit, balanced with some toasted malt. Finish was incredibly dry, with hop resin, pine needles and lemongrass. It worked nicely, but balance was clearly not the aim of this hop-bomb.

1 pint 6 fl oz bottle. Bottled 10/07/13. Pours a yellow-orange golden amber colour with a creamy thick white foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of tropical fruit, passionfruit, mango, melon, mandarin. Taste is malt caramel nicely balanced against a fruity hop bitterness with notes of mango, melon, mandarin, orange, grapefruit, pine, spice, resin. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, lightly spicy lingering dry hop resin bitter finish. Very drinkable IPA.

Bottle from Brewdog, Leeds. Hazy, orangey golden. Sticky, thin, lasting, white head. Aroma is straw. Toffee. Fruit salad. Cut grass. Light mintiness. Taste is fairly thick sweetness, fleetingly, then juicy bitter. Palate is fresh, piny oiliness. Long, mouth puckering, bitter finish. Corker.

Barwa: jasno bursztynowa/ pomarańczowa, wyraźnie mętna. Piana biała obfita, średnio i grubo pęcherzykowa. Względnie szybko opadająca, ale ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: słodowy (lekko karmelowy) i chmielowy (grejpfrut, kwiaty, sosna z przewagą tych pierwszych). Niestety chmiel nieco przytłumiony. Lekka nuta alkoholowa. Smak: umiarkowanie pełny słodowy, wytrawny, z natychmiastową chmielową kontrą. Goryczka powyżej średniej. Wyraźnie owocowa, grejpfrut, mandarynka, przyjemna, lekko zalegająca dopiero pod koniec. Do tego nieco alkoholowy finisz.

Pours intense yellow with touch of orange, big soapy, thick top, medium+ lasing. Aroma is very weak but still can catch some sweet fruity, pine-spruce, a bit perfume mixture, pleasant arom just weak. Flavor is quite complex for IPA seems to me - it starts gentle pine, grassy, fruity with light maltiness and finishes with deep resin, astringent, dry finish with hoppyness and bitterness all along. Nice. Medium body, long lasting bitter-resiny aftertaste. Interesting sample, aroma could be more.

Cerveza muy clarificada y con una buena espuma. En boca se encuentran toques cítricos y a frutas tropicales, el amargor es persistente pero en ningún caso es molesto

650ml bottle, pours hazy orange with a bubbly head which leaves a small lacing. Aroma is fruity, lemon zest, grapefruit and the finish is long and bitter. Carbonation lively. A very solid, highly drinkable IPA with lots of hoppy flavour.

Pours hazy orange with two fingers of white head that drop quickly. Floral aroma of pine, touches of fruit, maybe grapefruit. It does smell a bit stale, which leads me to believe this is getting long in the tooth. Taste is initial bitter but also somewhat malty. The flavors are there, but a bit subdued, and I’m thinking this might not be so fresh anymore. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Lingering bitter finish.
