3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I poured a 22 oz bottle into a snifter. Dated 9.21.11, this probably would have been better a month ago, but I’ve been busy with harvest offerings from Founders, GDBC, etc. So, when I found this at the bottle shop, I couldn’t resist adding one more wet hop, even if it is a bit past its prime. As usual, Port didn’t disappoint. With a cloudy orange body dotted with floating yeast bits, this raised a 2-finger rocky white head from which emanated a seriously simcoe-ish hop aroma. Flavors followed suit, in classic west coast ipa style, though this is both lighter in body and sweeter in the finish than some in that genre. Port has other things that I like better, and there are other wet hop ales that I prefer to this one. Still, if you put Port and fresh hops together, you’re going to get something good, and this is it.

Botella de 65 cl en el lupulo. Mayo de 2013. Buena y con sabor amargo hervaceo fresco pronunciado. Cuerpo ligero - medio. Hay que tomarla de nuevo para recordar todas sus características. Recomendable repetir.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not impressed with this beer, it tastes more like a pilsner with fresh hops added. No malt balance, and the hop flavor is very resiny. Not impressed...

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste citrus, floral, pine. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Not much of an aroma. Some hops and sweetness. Murky dark gold. Thin white head. Initial mouthfeel is alcohol and pepper. A little underwhelming quite frankly. Strongly hoppy but at present I’m just tasting a soup of hops and sugar.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Wow, between this beer and Celebration I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite Fresh Hop IPA. The aroma is packed with citrus and floral notes, while the flavor is a nice balance of bitter and pleasantly grainy sweetness from the malts. At only 6.5% ABV this is almost too easy to drink.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a bright orange gold with a big white head. The aroma is very strong with complex hops. Pine, citrus, grass and pepper are all in there, with the citrus coming through the strongest. On the palate, the beer is bitter but there are strong sweet malts to balance it out and it tastes as though it must be a bigger beer than 6.5% ABV. Great stuff.
