First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.
Alcohol content varies. Spring 2012 batch is 11% ABV. Spring 2013 is 10%.

Bottle. Yellow, hazy. Hoppy citrus on nose. Lemony, pineapples, yellow/light coloured fruityness, some green berry pines. Medium bodied, well bittered, nice sweetness, sturdy good mouthfeel. Hides the alcohol quite well. Super fruity, topical, pineapplely. Finishes on a piney note. Actually, after a while, pines are pretty dominating both on nose and palate. Real nice. Big flavourful.

Aromas of grapefruit, bitter sweetness, pine, resin, alcohol. Massive punch of alcohol and hop bitterness but well balanced. A little too heavy in the body.

Very aggressive hop forward brew. Light amber in color with effervescence that brought out the citrus hop aroma. Delicate malts and hoppy flavor.

Bomber - pours an amber orangish yellow with a medium head that laces the glass nicely. The aromas are big and bold - citrus rind, bitter grapefruit, pine resin, malty caramel and a subtle floral essence. One taste and you know it's huge. In your face bitterness from flavors of intense grapefruit, kumquat, citrus zest, pine needle, bitter herb and a hint of molasses like malts.

Draft at the brewery. Pours hazy amber copper with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like sweet citrus, caramel, smooth alcohol, and some pine. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like caramel, citrus hops, light pine, and smooth alcohol.

Tap at Apex, post CBC A: Orange semi-opaque body, firm white head, lacing. N: Pine, biscuit, earth, light citrus - though I canít say I pull too many such flavors out of this one. It doesnít strike me as a dry-hopped ale. T: Quite sweet; decent bitterness. M: Alcohol burn, medium body thatís quite resinous, soft carbonation. O: A DIPA with some high points but one that I believe has been passed in this day and age. I donít find it particularly special for any reason.

Citrus pine hops! Overpowering citrus and pine hops! Mild malts. This beer is dominated by the hops in aroma flavor and finish. BTW the hops are fantastic.
