First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.
Alcohol content varies. Spring 2012 batch is 11% ABV. Spring 2013 is 10%.

Bottle shared at Euston Tap. Pours cloudy, orange-gold with a substantial, frothy white head. Strong hop aroma with grapefruit and grass, plus some hints of malty caramel. Flavor holds citrus and caramel malt sweetness with deep grapefruit, grass and light earthy bitterness. Medium to full in body with average carbonation, warmth and a lightly resinous mouthfeel. Dries out lightly in the finish, with sticky resins, honey and caramel, pine, citrus and grass. Great stuff.

(750ml bottle, #66) Pours a lightly cloudy burnt orange body with a large (root beer float-like) orangish-beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, orange, lime, and caramel. Flavor of thick and chewy breadiness with mild hoppiness.

A: The beer pours an opaque orange color with a solid finger of white head and some sticky lacing. S: Initially smells pretty boozy, but that eventually fades and there is a lot of sweet fruit going on here. Pineapple, mango, tangerine, and grapefruit make up the bulk of the hop aroma. A touch of sugar which accentuates the sweetness. T: Lots of sweet tropical fruit with a moderate level of bitterness to it. Mild pine but plenty of grapefruit and pineapple with a touch of orange. A slight booze creeps in on the back end. There’s a really oily hop feel to this beer. M: Medium to full in body with a moderate to high carbonation and a lingering bitterness. D: This used to be one of my favorite DIPAs, but lately I’ve found it to be too sweet. It’s still a good beer, but no longer one of my top choices.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2005 (1/12/05) Clear amber with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, strong grapefruit, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel, herbal. Full body with very nice resin feel. (8/4/9/5/18). (1/28/04) Opaque color with off-white head. Aroma is sweet, grapefruit/pine, caramel. Taste is mild sweet, heavy grapefruit, noticeable alcohol. Medium-full body. (7/4/6/4/13). (9/6/02) Hazy amber. The aroma is pine, beautiful pine. The flavor is also pine -- it’s the essence of this beer, from start to finish. That being said, it doesn’t become overwhelming, and it’s very well-balanced. Some spiciness as well. All told, a profound experience indeed! (10/4/9/5/19)

Strong resin hop aroma. Also floral hop. Maybe some light citrus hop. Lots of hop. Hazy orange gold color with a white head that laced strangely. Medium to full body with caramel malt and lots of different hop. It is definitely malty, and it is surely well balanced. I can feel evergreen in my throat. The malt tends to slip away and the hop turns rather piney. Incredibly awesome.
