COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.
Alcohol content varies. Spring 2012 batch is 11% ABV. Spring 2013 is 10%.

shared bottle. poured a hazy orange colour with no head. a hop hit on the nose, citrus, bitter grapefruit, some candy sugar, pines. alcohol is well hidden in this brew. but a bad point is the weak carbonated mouhfeel. which i don’t like.

Hazy, orange-yellow beer with a three finger high, white, head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

Nose: Orange, citrus, grass, mandarin, orange marmelade, sweet malt, honey and grapefruit.
Taste: Boom! Citrus, hops, orange, grapefruit, tropical fruit, a LOT of hops!
Mouth: Full body with a great malty backbone. Sweetness and bitterness from the malt and hops. A high ABV (10%) that really doesen’t show but carries the taste right to your tounge - It’s fantastic!

As you can see - I’m in love! This is beatiful!

Hoppy smell that promises a bitter taste. Which is correct. Very dry bitterness with some sweet aftertaste. Extremely awesome.

Orange color with beautiful big white head. Aroma is a real hop bomb. Super fruity and piney, but also a hint of booze. Taste is very bitter and fruity, but also with a heavy body and residual sweetness. Lingering bitterness. A bit boozy. Still well balanced! Smooth mouthfeel. A very good Californian Imperial IPA!

@ Beer tasting, Havregatan 141206. Fruity and hoppy, citrus and grapefruits, sweet, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is bitter, hoppy and fruity with alcoholic notes.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy amber pour with a big fluffy off white head, tangerine and grapefruit aroma, taste has bitter grapefruit, sweet caramel, zest citrus, tangerine, some mango, this kind of bold assertively hopped DIPA is right up my street, glad it was a bomber.

(650ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours a hazy medium orange with a huge whitish bubbly head that lingers for ages and leaves lace. Aroma sweet and hoppy with a pale and caramel malt core supporting lots of fruity, slightly resinous hops. Lychee apparent at first, mango, orange, a little passion fruit, also orange, citrus peel, floral notes, some resinous pine. On the palate, fairly sweet and tropically driven with passion fruit, mango, lychee blended with orange and grapefruit zest, some other fruit here, I think it’s strawberry?, pretty strong floral notes, a honey and moderate caramel malt sweetness forming the core. Sweet and fruity middle gives way to a fairly resinous finish where spruce and pine join florals and some lingering citrus zest and tropical fruit, moderate to high bitterness and a bit of alcohol heat. Medium bodied with medium carb. Surprised how well this has stood up to its shipment overseas, no obvious date but I am certain it is not extremely fresh. Still lots of lush fruity hop character balanced by an appropriate malt core and resinous bittering hops to dry. Maybe just a hair too boozy, but top DIPA nonetheless.

Bottle from Lazy Dog Growlers in Macon area, dated 10/1/14, poured 11/25/14. Hoping for the best after almost 2 months. Pours cloudy golden with a massive creamy white to off white head. Nice citrus aroma with light pine and grass, some honey sweetness and light maltiness. Flavor is lots of tropical citrus, way over the top malt sweetness, some strange off flavors. Nearly completely flat, dry left on the palate. Hoping I just got a bad bottle or something here. Not very good.
