4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Hopgeek (90) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 7, 2004
Golden to red color, offwhite head about an inch thick. The aromatics are huge, sweet and loaded with hops, a tinge of alcohol in the nose too. Taste is bittering at first and then becomes sweetness and is laced with a hop explosion. Palate is creamy, syrupy and smooth, full bodied. This is another really great Double IPA from the guys a Pizza Port.

15 hops!!!!! This beer is hop heads dream and with the high alcohol content this beer gets on top of you quick. This is defintely one of the best double IPA’s I have ever had. I want to fill a swimming pool full of it and bathe in it. Strong hop nose, flavor, and lingering finish. This beer puts 95% of extreme IPA’s to shame. If you are true hop head you will got the end of the earth to drink this monster!!!!

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2010 Re-rating 5/28/10: Bottle. Powerhouse aroma of pine, grass, flowers, honey, mint. As opposed to my first go-round with this beer, this is a delightful and memorable olfactory experience. Where I didn’t taste maltiness last time, I do, a deep honeylike undercurrent - there is so much going on here. Verrrry bitter, yet very sweet at the same time. I sure am glad I picked up another bottle.
Old rating: To say "I expected this to be better" is to ignore the fact that it is an excellent beer. But I prefer the Shark Attack quite a bit. Not enough balance for me, just a hair too little maltiness to counter the hops. In a competitive double-IPA market, there are quite a few I like just as much or more.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 RZahler (46) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - DEC 20, 2010
Very Aromatic: floral, citrus, earthy, bubblegum. Like a "hop" fruit-rollup. The appearance is varying, poured too much sediment in the second glass; hazy - cloudy. Second glass has less of a hop flavor. Very appealing to the tongue and mouth, leaves a hop/bitterness in the back of my mouth.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 bigabe (194) - California, USA - FEB 1, 2011
A truly amazing IPA. It’s like Pliny with an attitude. The nose is complex - hops, bitter grapefruit, a little sweet fruit, and some malt as well. Flavor starts out citrusy sweet, then turns in to a hop smack, and finishes long with a bitter citrus/grapefruit flavor that cleans your palate. Definitely a completely full bodied beer - one of the biggest Imperial IPAs I have ever had. This is an artfully executed, complex, yet well balanced beer. It truly is a symphony.

Taste is similar, i kept going back and having more of this, so delicous and juicey, georgous stuff. If i ever get the chance for more its mine!
4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Cybercat (2450) - Georgia, USA - APR 27, 2012
Aroma is SERIOUSLY hoppy - hops and evergreen scent scamper up your nose even before you can take a good whiff. Just like smelling fresh-cut pine wood, except for the firm undertone of sour orange. Pours a lovely clear amber with a fairly thick off-white head that leaves some good lacing. Overwhelmingly evergreen flavor makes this beer taste like a liquid pine tree. Bitterness is strong but not vicious. There is also an undertone of citrus and a whisper of honey sweetness. Firm-bodied texture is quite fizzy and lively, leaving a persistent and very hoppy tingle. This beer is a must for all "hop heads."
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2010
Head forms slowly in a reverse cascade then falls quickly. Body is about as "amber" as you can get... reminding me of fossilized insect-amber replete with sediment in suspension and some tiny bubbles which cling to the bottom and sides of the glass. Potent pine aroma, nearly eye-watering on a deep nasal draw. Afterwards come biscuits, grapefruit and a hint of caramel. The flavor is pretty incredible. Peppery, piney, sharp, mildly alcoholic and ending with a subtle fruitcake sweetness. Lingers long, teetering back and forth between pastry sweet and peppery alcohol. I’m kinda blown away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bought this about a month ago at Binny’s, Orland Park, IL

Wow, is this delicious! The Hop 15 is what an outstanding double IPA should be. This beer has it all! It has an over-the-top hop profile, is balanced very well with a bready malt that is also a bit sweet and the aroma is very inviting. The Hop 15 starts with a dark and somewhat hazy golden pour with a very generous off-white head. The head leaves a decent amount of lacing around the glass. The nose is full of hops, resin, pine, a bit of earth and a ton of citrus. The flavors are quite spicy and hoppy, with more notes of pine, grapefruit, oranges, sourdough bread, a bit of earth and a slight hint of alcohol. The finish is again very spicy and hoppy, with more pine and citrus. This is definitely a very outstanding double IPA!

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2007 lupulin slam #3. reddish amber. big grassy herbal hop aroma. malty but with big dry herbal hop finish. no indication of the alcohol (although this was pretty far into the tasting). this is delightful, best of the show imho.
re-rated keg at Port Brewing tasting at the Brickskeller. i have to bump the rating: dark orange. aroma is an explosion of herbs, pine, citrus, more herbs, fruit. flavor: caramel fades immediately into pine, citrus, beautiful engrossing hop bomb. i LOVE this brew.
