Similar flavour, mild roast malt with mild smoky undertones. (6+) Average palate. Well crafted brew, but the flavour departments in which it excels in are not my favourites to start with, and it also probably lost a a point or two in the midst of a raucous tasting, as evidenced by the fact that I wrote down almost as many quotes as beer notes on this notebook page. Wish most porters looked that good - pitch black pour, not thick-looking, with a solid fizzy-foamy light brown head (4+). Creamy grainy aroma, deeply roasted and earthy, but not burnt at all, lightly herbal. Amazing taste - dry yet sweet, heavy roast (coffee bean and cocoa) with dry herbal bitterness and licorice root in the finish - did I say I wish most porters were this good? Light, silky mouthfeel, a wee bit of acidity and mineral tang in the linger, not much carbonation, but it’s so smooth and balanced who cares - one of the best beers I’ve had in a long while - it’s a pleasure to drink a bomber of this. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Burnt cocoa and vanilla aromas warms to soft coffee liquor and dark currant tones. Black chocolate and dusty cocoa flavors balance the light coffee notes from start to finish. Light bodied, soft carbonation, light powdery chocolate finish. Easy drinking and very well made… tjthresh (1782), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2008 Bottle at Tria. The pour was dark brown with a thick light brown head. The smell is full of roast and smoke, with just a little bit of hops and clean yeast character. Same with the flavor. This beer is quite robust, yet easy to drink. Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry clean finish. Really one of the better surprises I’ve drink in a long time. rudolf (1789), Buffalo, New York, USA

Thanks Paul, because "Blankboy is much better than blackout drunk." Very rich dark brown, tan head. Nose is smoke & cocoa, light iodine malt. Flavor is smoke, burnt malt, cocoa, very dark toffee, burnt fruits. A very aggressive Schwarzbier. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Smoke, roast aroma with some hops. Strong roast and smoke taste over a very thick body. Like an Imperial Swarzbier, this might have the most mids leading beer name ever. Very nice and complex.
