Aroma: intense tropical fruits, floral hops, grain and bread malts. Appearance: clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: bitters intensify, grass, flowers, very dry finish. Overall: nice IIPA, yet slightly too dry finish for my taste. Pint at Lost Abbey/Port Brewing, San Marcos.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
"being from one of my favorite breweries, THE biggest letdown of the DIPA fest. didnít want to finish. not really a drain pour per se, but left an ounce or two to save my liver and palate for bigger and better things. Just...average. At best. Iím not getting the fuss (scores a 99 on RB) and Iíve loved just about every Port IPA and IIPA thus far. iíll give it another shot in the bottle if i see a fresh one...with lowered expectations. 4/11 - well, i donít know what the deal was at SFBW DBL IPA fest, but......that keg kinda sucked, and an obviously fresh bottle was much much better! big flaoral and citrus hops. not too balanced, but a little sweet too. very nice - iíll buy again."

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Moderate grain and roasted for the malt, heavy grapefruit and unripe mango for the hops, light cheese for the yeast, with pepper and dried apricot in the background. Head is huge, frothy, off-white with good lacing and good legs and is mostly lasting. Color is murky medium amber/orange. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately acidc and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a moderately astringent finish. This DIPA has a lot of character after it warms a bit. Full of grainy malts, citrusy hops and some fruit in the finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Dark golden, hazy body, with a massive, creamy, rocky, white head, that leaves a thick lacing. Lovely aroma of citrus, peach, passion fruit, pine, candy. Taste is dry, bitter, with about the same aromas and also a bice biscuit malt backbone. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a medium carbonation and it finishes bitter, dry, with lemon zest, pine, some grass and slightly alcohol warming. Tasty! The dryness is really nice, almost like a Belgian strong ale. Otherwise with lovely fruit notes and a solid, but not too full malt backbone, so that it is easy to drink.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy orange-yellow with a huge, velvety head that forms deep valleys and crags before smoothing out. Smell is caramel, citrus, deep toasted notes, some dark fruit. Taste is dry straw/grass moving into tangy sweet citrus. Hint of chalk. Long bitter finish. A good IPA with an understated malt profile.
