"being from one of my favorite breweries, THE biggest letdown of the DIPA fest. didnít want to finish. not really a drain pour per se, but left an ounce or two to save my liver and palate for bigger and better things. Just...average. At best. Iím not getting the fuss (scores a 99 on RB) and Iíve loved just about every Port IPA and IIPA thus far. iíll give it another shot in the bottle if i see a fresh one...with lowered expectations. 4/11 - well, i donít know what the deal was at SFBW DBL IPA fest, but......that keg kinda sucked, and an obviously fresh bottle was much much better! big flaoral and citrus hops. not too balanced, but a little sweet too. very nice - iíll buy again."

Bottle. Moderate grain and roasted for the malt, heavy grapefruit and unripe mango for the hops, light cheese for the yeast, with pepper and dried apricot in the background. Head is huge, frothy, off-white with good lacing and good legs and is mostly lasting. Color is murky medium amber/orange. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately acidc and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a moderately astringent finish. This DIPA has a lot of character after it warms a bit. Full of grainy malts, citrusy hops and some fruit in the finish.

Bottle. Dark golden, hazy body, with a massive, creamy, rocky, white head, that leaves a thick lacing. Lovely aroma of citrus, peach, passion fruit, pine, candy. Taste is dry, bitter, with about the same aromas and also a bice biscuit malt backbone. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a medium carbonation and it finishes bitter, dry, with lemon zest, pine, some grass and slightly alcohol warming. Tasty! The dryness is really nice, almost like a Belgian strong ale. Otherwise with lovely fruit notes and a solid, but not too full malt backbone, so that it is easy to drink.

Cloudy orange-yellow with a huge, velvety head that forms deep valleys and crags before smoothing out. Smell is caramel, citrus, deep toasted notes, some dark fruit. Taste is dry straw/grass moving into tangy sweet citrus. Hint of chalk. Long bitter finish. A good IPA with an understated malt profile.

Picked up a growler of this one for a party on the 4th of July.

A - Pours out hazy light amber orange with a thick, frothy, two finger tall head leaving thick rings of lace down the glass.

S - Smells of dense pine forest, citric hops, a bit of citric fruit, caramel malt, and some light booze.

T - Starts off with a nice light citric hop bite quickly giving way to a mix of pine, grapefruit, and chewy sweet caramel malt. A touch of booze creeps in toward the end but otherwise is undetectable. The finish is a mix of sweetness and light hop bitterness, lingering for a short time.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Plenty of hop resin in the feel, lingering through the finish.

O - I drank half the growler in no time flat. I was drinking it so fast I had to slow it down a bit or I wasnít gonna be able to make it home. The flavors were all there and it was easy going down. Still one of my favorites.
