On tap at Toronado in San Diego, served in a shaker. Pours hazy golden amber with a moderate off-white head that mostly remains and leaves a huge amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are big notes of lemon and pine, with more subtle pale malts. The flavour is moderately bitter throughout, with tropical fruit, citrus and pepper. The finish is long and peppery-bitter. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a great IPA with a nice blend of bittering hops. 2013-03-21

Bottle from Hop City, Atlanta. Pours a dark golden orange, fair amount of off-white head. A lot going on in the aroma: grapefruit, light resin, tangerine, very sweet-smelling. Bodu is medium, becoming bigger towards the very bitter finish. Big, rolling finish, hits spicy/hot at first (it is 8.5, after all) then becoming metallic/bitter. With a bottling date of September 6, this is likely not the beer at its best, as the finish was a bit disappointing, but there is enough from that aroma to want to seek out a fresher bottle to rate.

This is another top shelf DIPA. The color is a nice burnt copper, lacing is really thick and lasting - so I expected more suds on the palate. Not quite as lively as I expected. The nose is really well-done, see other reviewers with better vocabularies for fuller description. The taste has a much better balance than most. Bitterness and sweetness do battle, but whichever is winning from moment to moment is irrelevant because you are enjoying the experience. After recently being somewhat letdown by Stoudts and even Boulevard’s Double Wide, it was nice to have one with such a high recommendation pull through. Well done Port, but please have someone give assistance with your labels. Those JV attempts kept me from trying, thus hoarding your brews for years!

Bottle sample. Clear deep yellow color with a huge rocky head. Harsh hoppiness, piney and loaded with bitter citrus peel. Very bitter, grapefruit peel, pomelo and grass with only faint maltiness. Med-full body, a bit hardcore and hard to drink.

Bottle from Capones. Pour is a cloudy gold. Citrus, pine, floral nose. Taste is grapefruit and bitter. Light and sticky in mouth. Overall an ok double.. one was enough.

Hazy gold color with a thick foam head and excellent clingy lacing. Aroma is bursting with piney hops...love that smell. Taste is smoother albeit a bit disappointing compared to the smell. Pure grapefruit flavor that dissipates quickly with a creamy dry finish. Overall a very good DIPA.

bomber. more white head than most because im guessing its unfiltered. Cloudy as expected. nice lacing. yellow color. very bitter but sharply ending. nice on the palate. If you’re in the mood for a DIPA this isn’t a bad choice.

Bottle thanks to rbrazell! Pours a hazy golden yellow with thin white lacy head that sticks nicely. Aroma of peach and tropical fruit notes from the hops. Taste follows, with a pale malt back and lasting bitter finish. Increases in commodity as it warms. Good stuff.

Cloudy orange pour with a white head. Very dank peachy hop nose with more tropical fruit hops with subtle malt backing. Lots of bitter tropical Fruitiness throughout the flavor with good balance but ending on a long lasting bitter hoppiness. Pretty solid beer.

Bottle from Bytemesis (I think?). Incredible floral and citrus hops jump out of the bottle upon opening. It pours a vibrant orange with some fluffy white head. Flavor is awesome floral and citrus hops, well-balanced with little bitterness. Another great IPA from Port Brewing.
