On tap. Poured a clear orangish gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of pine with a relatively strong resin note and a bit of grapefruit and sweet grains as well. Flavor began with grapefruit but quickly became full of pine with a hint of resin and the slightest sweet bread backbone.

Tap at the brickstore. Pours a dark orange color with a nice white head. Incredible hop profile like only a west coast IPA can do. Aroma is mostly pine and a little lemony citrus. Flavor is nicely bitter throughout with a grapefruit bite quickly followed by a long resiny pine touch and a long finish. Caramel malt sweetness to add a little balance and give the beer some body. With the balance and hop profile here, this is a great representation of this style.

On tap at Lost Abbey Barrel Night 2010. Pours medium amber with a 2 finer white head. The nose is fresh citrus and caramel. The taste is ripe pink grapefruit, oranges and a nice resin bite that lingers quite awhile. Medium mouthfeel. Great DIPA.

Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, fizzy to frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, heavy hoppy, dark orange - citrus, mango. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, soft, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100805]

Poured into a stem at Trappeze in Athens, GA, this was a pale orange color, more like an ipa than a dipa. This hinted at the hop-forward, light malt nature of this dipa, especially when compared with the hop-15 offering from the same brewer. In other words, lemon and pineapple dominated the aroma, with bitterness throughout the flavor and into a long, lingering finish. Overall, a tasty drink but not my favorite for the style or from the brewer.
