nice golden peach with a big light tan head, great retention and lacing, looks awesome... great nose, lots of citrus and tropical notes, oranges, pineapple, some caramel malt, hops hidden nicely for dipa, smooth resin finish, smells crushable, I want... wow, where’d all those hops come from? lots of hops not overbearing but they present the whole sip, add some nice bitterness, very drinkable, a little sad most of the fruit has disappeared, a small complaint... a really solid in between dipa that I will have again

Bomber. Bright golden orange colored in appearance with ample sea foam head. Lots of fragrant grapefruit citrus and floral hops notes in the aroma along with some caramel and dried tropical fruit in the background. The flavor starts aggressively bitter and citrusy with a blend of resiny hops, sour grapefruit, caramel malt and pine. The body is thick but not syrupy with strong carbonation and a bitter, slightly salty finish. Another excellent San Diego style DIPA from Port.

On tap at Lost Abbey. Nice golden with decent lacing. Huge pine nose. It’s like eating hops. Caramel malt does protrude but just to keep the hops from running rampant. Big IPA

Aroma consists of resin, grass, pine and citrus. The appearance is straw to bright yellowish orange. There is a significant amount of flocculation. The head is dense and white. The flavor is predominantly bitter, but faintly sweet. This is an enamel animal

650 ml. bottle. Served at cool cellar temperature. Pours a thick, long duration, with very heavy lacing, off white head, over a cloudy (dry hop central) light amber (SRM 7) body....nose is heavy pine, resin, grapefruit....taste is very light toffee/caramel, with floral honey to start, then very heavy pine, resin, citrus, leading to a long lingering heavy bitterness....mouth feel is medium to heavy, carbonation creates a creamy sensation. This seems unbalanced. The label says it has more hops than a "Left Coast" IPA and I agree, but the bitterness simply overwhelms the malt back bone, and adds nothing subtle to the aroma or flavors. This makes what could be a wonderful trip into the world of hop subtleties too simple. After allowing it to rest in the glass for an hour, some of the abject bitterness left and it became much more balanced and complex. Do you want to wait an hour?? BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Pailhead (6249) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - MAY 10, 2011
On tap: The aroma is a nice combination of tropical fruits, mango and grapefruit. It’s a transparent golden-orange with a small white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The flavor starts with pineapple, mango, and tropical fruits. The finish has a moderate grapefruit hop presence. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Dangerously drinkable.
