3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle -
Finally found and popped open my bomber of Mongo. A nice IIPA for sure, but far from the top of the hop heap. The beer pours out a golden orange color with an initial large 3" head, with nice lasting puffiness, but little lacing. Aroma had a nice showing of pineapple/honey sweetness, with a light zip of piney hops. The flavor is where the beer shines as it zeroes in on the bitter tastebuds with a hop-forward hop blast. It’s almost like some kind of hop extract, the flavor reminds me a little of sipping something what hop juice might taste like if steeped in vodka. Tons of piney, sappyness, catty hops without a trace of malts anywhere around (love it). The alcohol is a bit distracting though, but not too much. Really nice beer and nice on the wallet. Dig it.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a finger of head on a hazy straw body.
The aroma is grapefruit and lemon. Nice.
The taste has a strong dry bitterness, there’s supporting malt that keeps it balanced.
The texture is crisp and fizzy.
A bold bitter IPA. Good.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
It poured a clear orange color with a white head. The aroma was of pine, tropical fruit, hops, grapefruit and malts. The taste was of sugar, with a hoppy, medium bitter finish. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is mild pine, citrus peels and a little sweet. The taste is not that hoppy, and that may have to do with the age? But still sweet from lychees, peaches, orange and a very slight bitterness. I would really like to try this one fresh, as I was not super impressed by this one, but it is still a very nice DIPA. If I get my hands on a fresh specimen, I will return with a re-review.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Cloudy, dark orange. Thin, bubbly, lasting, off white head, that has a glossy top coat. Heavy, pithy orange, and pink grapefruit. Caramel. Fruit salad sweets. There’s a phenolic edge on this, too, although I don’t mind it. There’s enough sweet fruit to balance it. Taste is dry, and heavy bitter. Some sweetness bubbling around. Full, boozy, chewy palate. Finish is long, thick, chewy bitter. Sandy dry close. Certainly not lacking oomph.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a cloudy gold color with good lacing and head retention. Smells bitter and slightly of oranges. Tastes of bittering hops and Heather. A good beer!
