3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Solid but not overly distinctive. Pine and resin from noise to finish. Crisp and light bodied for a double IPA. Would definitely repeat.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Monk’s Cafe, Philly.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting.
Body is medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, apricot).
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Nice appearance, and an equally nice fluffy mouthfeel with low syrupy-ness and relatively modest booze-burn, but the aroma just doesn’t do very much…it’s almost all resin and grapefruit, i.e. just the usual west coast odors. Decent flavor balance for the style but just on the edge of being caustic.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from 1/4/16. Deep hazy golden color with a lot if visible carbonation. Small fluffy white head. Resin and pine with some citrus fruit. Unfortunately flavor doesnt bring the same love. Lacks complexity and flair. Rather average taste for an ipa.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Fruity hoppy aroma. Heavy heavy ipa. Big hops really bitter. If you want a face slappin ipa this is it. At 8.5% its one to drink a small glass of. Really good.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours crystal clear straw with a lovely white head which billows and looks almost marshmallow like in it’s volume and density. Aroms is nice resiny hops which grassy, summer notes which invite you to drink this on a very hot day (as per the label). Unfortunately I can only assume this was on old bottle as the hop flavours promised in the aroma were not present and as this is not a particularly malty IIPA (I find the malty ones tend to retain their hoppiness better) it was just like a normal IPA with a few aspirins dissolved in. Over active carbonation and the flavour just wasn’t there. Knowing Port Brewing’s commitment to IPAs this must have been an old bottle and I for one am very disappointed but will try again when I can be guaranteed freshness.
