Slightly hazy gold. Amazing white head. Nose is pine, lemon zest, caramel, some honey. Flavor follows - ey strong bitterness, pine, alcohol. Quite sweet. Astringency comes forward in the finish.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Cloudy, dark orange. Thin, bubbly, lasting, off white head, that has a glossy top coat. Heavy, pithy orange, and pink grapefruit. Caramel. Fruit salad sweets. Thereís a phenolic edge on this, too, although I donít mind it. Thereís enough sweet fruit to balance it. Taste is dry, and heavy bitter. Some sweetness bubbling around. Full, boozy, chewy palate. Finish is long, thick, chewy bitter. Sandy dry close. Certainly not lacking oomph.

Pours a cloudy gold color with good lacing and head retention. Smells bitter and slightly of oranges. Tastes of bittering hops and Heather. A good beer!

Aroma: intense tropical fruits, floral hops, grain and bread malts. Appearance: clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: bitters intensify, grass, flowers, very dry finish. Overall: nice IIPA, yet slightly too dry finish for my taste. Pint at Lost Abbey/Port Brewing, San Marcos.

"being from one of my favorite breweries, THE biggest letdown of the DIPA fest. didnít want to finish. not really a drain pour per se, but left an ounce or two to save my liver and palate for bigger and better things. Just...average. At best. Iím not getting the fuss (scores a 99 on RB) and Iíve loved just about every Port IPA and IIPA thus far. iíll give it another shot in the bottle if i see a fresh one...with lowered expectations. 4/11 - well, i donít know what the deal was at SFBW DBL IPA fest, but......that keg kinda sucked, and an obviously fresh bottle was much much better! big flaoral and citrus hops. not too balanced, but a little sweet too. very nice - iíll buy again."

glennmastrange (2288) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - OCT 1, 2014
Bottle. Moderate grain and roasted for the malt, heavy grapefruit and unripe mango for the hops, light cheese for the yeast, with pepper and dried apricot in the background. Head is huge, frothy, off-white with good lacing and good legs and is mostly lasting. Color is murky medium amber/orange. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately acidc and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a moderately astringent finish. This DIPA has a lot of character after it warms a bit. Full of grainy malts, citrusy hops and some fruit in the finish.

Draft sample at the brewery. Clear copper color with a white ring. Aroma is light green hops. Flavor is medium bitterness and pine resin with lingering bitterness. Okay.
