Jun 8, 2009 A sweet caramel, toffee and hop aroma. It has a smooth dark malt taste with a little sweetness, toffee under notes and then with hops bitterness being the strongest taste. I like the aroma more than the actual taste, but very good.

Jun 6, 2009 22 oz bottle. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, coffee and toffee. Dark brown with a big fluffy light brown head. Sweet flavor with lots of chocolate bitterness and an alcohol taste. Medium to full bodied with a smooth silky mouth feel, average carbonation. This is a great beer, alcohol is a bit hot but might do well with some age.

Jun 6, 2009 Poured from a bottle dark redish brown with a small tan head. Aroma was coffee and roasted malts and alcohol. Flavor was molasses, coffee, malty sweet but not overly so and a little oak bite.

Jun 2, 2009 Sampled at Springslicker’s Fish Fry ’09. First Batch. Very dark brown with a tan head. Roasty, with pine hop bitterness. Resiney. Slight chocolate, smoke. It was good, but overrated IMO. Or maybe this first run just had too much age on it.

Jun 2, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma consisted of roasted malts and coffee, with a hint of smoke. Flavor combines the aroma well and adds a nice sweetness.

May 31, 2009 bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours very dark brown with a tan head. It smells of roast malt and coffee. It tastes of dark roast malt, smoke, and coffee with some bitterness in the finish. This brew is full bodied and very good.

May 31, 2009 Poured a really dark red/brown with a tan head. Aroma was alcohol, vanilla, chocolate, malt, caramel, there was a lot going on here. Flavor was very complex as well, lots of sweet characteristics, dark fruit, anise. This was a deep beer and would probably age wonderfully.

May 31, 2009 Bottle, 22oz. A next to black beer with a small, tan head. Vanilla, alcohol, coffee, some chocolate and roasted malts in the aroma. The flavor is rather sweet, with alcohol, vanilla, roasted malts and coffee-like bitterness. Full-bodied and warming. Long, roasted finish with a good bitterness. A quite intense beer, maybe a bit too much, but really lovely and tasteful. (090508)
