Courtesy of Hank. On a night that I served Westvleteren 8 and Leffe Brune, this was my fave. The aromas of vanilla and roasted malts were pleasing. The dark pour yielded flavors of ripe fruits, sherry, and bourbon. This should age tremendously. well.

Lovely pour, used motor oil black pour with a lovely chocolate colored head. Aroma of earth, dark malts, with some sweetness. Lots of hops just beneath the other flavors. What a blast of oily thick flavors from burned malts, sweetness, hops, followed by a long finish that is austere to dry at the tail end. There is an abundance of heavy dark rich just ripe stone fruits, wood, vegetal hops, and sherry/marsala. This is an imperial stout of world class. I am impressed and look forward to my next bottle.

Very nice brew by Port. It’s classified as an American Strong Ale and on the bottle it considers itself unclassified, but in my opinion this is pretty much an imperial stout with even more sweetness. Has stout characteristics... chocolate, coffee, wood, dark fruits. Quite sweet. Very thick on the palate. Good beer but a bottle is all you need as it becomes a bit cloying.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Lost Abbey. Dark black pour with a thin, light tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits. Thick mouthfeel. Wonderfully boozy taste, with hints of charred wood, coffee, licorice. Tons of warming alcohol. Finish is smoky and bitter.

Black chocolate pour with little bubbles permeating and a brownish head. Coffee/mocha and roasted aromas. Coffee that blends into mocha and roast maltiness. Coffee bitter mellows as the beer warms. Finish with some faint charcoal. Some alcohol warmth for sure, but not bad or overpowering. Pretty much full bodied. Excellent, would love to get my hands on the older. Guessing it has more sweet tones and barrel.

This is a malt lovers wet dream. Pours a deep dark brown boardering on black with a fluffy half inch mocha head. Smell was coffee and a lot of spice. taste was a collection of ever roasted barely chiche: chocolate, coffee and prune dark fruint. Only criticism is that i wasnt getting much whiskey notes, no real oakiness, no toffee or smoke. Would be interested to try thins without the barrle ageing and see what the difference is. the 10%abv showed with some alcohol notes on the finnish but they were appricated.

Holy crap, I’m almost to the end of the bottle and now I have to write something. What the hell can I pull out of my ass for this one? The icky sticky semi-sweet bourbon with the wonderfully resinous and charred barrel notes, or the thick, viscous and smooth texture that lingers on the tongue? I had Older Viscosity a few months back, it was heavy with the sweet, sugar maple bourbon, and while it was really good, I genuinely enjoyed it, I like this one more (though Older Viscosity did look better, so it scores a point higher)... it’s the tannic, dry nature, the charred wood, it’s like you can taste the lip of the barrel. Damn good. I will probably buy more.

Pours a dark brown, almost purple around the edges when held up to light. Head starts off as a nice khaki color but dissiaptes rather quickly. Aromas of chocolate, plums, raisins, and dark fruit in general. Plalte is a thin from what I was expecting. It would have gotten a 4 if wasnt so hyped up on the label...I was a little let down honestly. Flavor is GREAT, with hints of chocolate and the afformentioned dark fruits, and a nice hoppy/bitter bite near the end. All in all, a fantastic beer, but a little overaated. Now give me the Older Viscosity and I’ll be in biz.
