Definitely not your Dad’s Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that’s as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Fantastisk. Sort og tyk som beg. Smager himmelsk. Dejlig bitter. Må ikke være for kold. Den styrker på en kold dag.

Bottle. Pours brownish black with nice dense head. Aroma is caramel, smoke, charcoal, caramel. Taste is similar with some good spicy notes. Little soy sauce sneaking in. Some raisin. Good clean finish.

Very glad this is easily available in Chicago now. A silky, sensous work of art. Begins with creamy chocolate ice cream, then fades into nutmeg, toffee, cinnamon, and light espresso, then finishes with expressive pine hop bite. Not even a hint of booze (but you start to feel it pretty soon...) Its obviously not trying to be a mind blowing imperial stout, but that is where I have set the bar for getting a 5, so this only gets a 4.8. If you are into big dark hoppy beer, im sure you have already tried this, if you havent...well all i can say is you need to get on this pronto...

Drank to at Lord Hobo in Boston and it was awesome. Unfortunately i was enjoying myself more than those with me and was forced to drink the 22oz bomber at a very fast speed leading me to the conclusion that this beer is not only delicious but extremely effective.

In short: a viscous tasty dark ale.
Pours black with frothy creamy quite tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Roasty, spicy, wood, coffee aromas. MEdium body, viscous tecture, soft carbonation. Taste is roasty, coffee, spicy, raisins, some hints of wood. Quite long aftertaste. Smooth and very well balanced. Really enjoyable.

Pitch black with a tan head offering lovely coherent lacings. Noses of sweet/bitter chocolate, lightly of red wine, butterscotch, vanilla, raisin and woody. Heavy sweet, excellently balanced and very pleasant developing on the palate. Full bodied with a creamy-oily texture developing further aromas of whisky. Long lasting solidly ace finish.

On tap poured into a 4oz english tulip sampler glass. The aroma of sweet candy sugar sticks out with a hint of alcohol - kind of a gumdrop and / or gingerbread type smell. A thin espresso colored head tops the dark, opaque black beer and it leaves a light lacing down the glass. It’s highly sweet with a faint bitterness. The palate is dominated by a heavy chocolate malt flavor from nearly start to finish. It’s a full bodied, thick beer, but has a fizzy carbonation that gives it a slick quality. There’s also some burnt toast flavors on the tongue with some maple syrup, or molasses - in fact pancakes started to come to mind after awhile.

2011 bottle share thanks to scotchzi! Pours dark black with thin head and little lacing. Smell is amazing bourbon, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, booze, vanilla. Taste is bourbon, sweet chocolate, coffee, vanilla, booze, light tobacco. Thick oily mouthfeel. Would love to see what additional years does to this bottle.
