Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Whoa! This is a seriously good beer. Got the bottle at Sam’s in Chi a few months ago. Poured with a great tan head and some lace. Color is an opaque brown. Aroma is earthy, caramel, toffee, chocolate, a bit of yeast and a hint a hops. Flavs are all a that and more. This is a divine product. I have been blessed. Finish is great. Body is excellent with fine carbonation. Almost a session beer in spite of its obvious power. Pat, Kevin, Rick, Tim, an Roger give it their stamp of approval. Hosanahs.

My first Pizza Port brew! For some reason I thought this would be like a stout, it isn’t. It is black as oil and has a thin ring of bubbles for a head. The smell is some vanilla and sweet candy. The flavor is strong, more vanilla, raisins, dark fruit. Good flavors but the alcohol is noticeable. 22oz is too much, I should have split this bomber with someone but oh well. Bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown that shows a faint bit of light at the edges just below the thin line of tan head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma is rich dark chocolate with a slightly bitter char character to the roast malts. Flavor is very rich and deeply roasted with a bit of chocolate and dry barrel character. Quite a bit of carbonation keeps this heavy beer lively in the mouth.

Pours a very dark brown like a cup of coffee with a thin tan crown head. Scent kind of reminds me of a slightly hoppy stout. Earthy aroma over chocolate and coffee. I’m having a difficult time detecting things for some reason. Taste is also kind of stouty but not. Wow, really hard to characterize but good. Roasted malts and chocolate with some sweetness are there but this has something I cant touch where I wouldn’t call this a stout at all. Excellent stuff! Mouth is pretty thick with low-med carbonation, which is excellent. Easy to drink and one I will seek out from my west coast friends again.

Pours black and thick as a starless night. Small tight tan head. Slight smokieness in nose. Dark bitter taste start to finish. Great beer.

Brewed in the USA.... Pours black in color with a small beige head that disappears slowly in time. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, toffee and sweet chocolate. Taste of molasses, licorice, malts, tobacco and bourbon. The mouthfeel is smooth but thin with some lingering alcohol warmth at the finish. Another winner from the boys at Port Brewing / Lost Abbey !!!

Pours like it says. with a med. brown head. Aroma is light with roasted malts, light coffee scent. Mouth feel is oily, round and slightly thinner than I expected. Licorice, coffee, acidic, some board wood. slight loam. Quite bitter for a wet stout. The finish is a long licorice, slightly chocolate and pleasant.

Thanks to the RB crew in Queens! A light pour accumulates into a thick pitch-black brew. Aroma has light notes of vanilla and caramel and heavy notes of smoke. Heavy bourbon and smoke flavors with a bit of vanilla. Roasted malt in the finish. It drank pretty good.
