Charlzm (247), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 3, 2007 Bottled, consumed on 11/3/07. Very dark brown pour generates a long-lasting tan head of fine bubbles. Looks and smells like a stout. Very silky, warming mouthfeel: a touch of alcohol burn, due perhaps to the bourbon barrel aging. Flavors of mocha, tobacco and a hint of cherries (maybe?), as well as bourbon. Didn’t note any hops on the palate. A little one-note on the flavor, but a great flavor it is! Quite active and tingly as it goes down and warming in the stomach. A big beer that tastes great! jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Nov 3, 2007 Poured a very dark brown with a toffee head. Nice caramel and mocha aroma, with a beautiful vanilla undertone. Flavor is of tobacco, bourbon, and mocha notes. Really nice. mystiksc (46), los angeles, California, USA Nov 3, 2007 Very dark motor oil pour. Burnt coffee and caramel flavors. Decent lace. Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 28, 2007 Dark, opaque, yet not overly syrupy blackness, small dark foam cap. Wonderfully rich nose, all the dark boozy epithets apply, nutty, plums, apple, oak, "whiskey", "rummy", etc. Nice austere palate, enough malt for balance....tar. Airport runway. Intense but pretty drinkable near(imperial)-stout!
