Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Poured a thick black with fluffy tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and some hops. Good coffee flavor to start with some chocolate and vanilla hints. Finished with some smoke texture.

From a single 12-oz bottle shared by brewfiend, pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of dark roasted coffee, chocolate a touch of alcohol and some vanilla. Taste is full bodied, thick, syrupy, with flavors of dark roasted malt, coffee and a touch of vanilla. Finish is slightly metalic from the high alcohol.

22 oz. bottle - pours pure black with very bold aromas of smoky malts and alcohol; drinks strong and bitter and looking forward to letting my second bottle even out a little bit over the next few months 12/15/07 update - after a few months in the fridge....wow...same punch, new velvet touch

Bottle. Darkest black with a brown head. The aroma is of oak, dark roasted malt and a little smoky. The flavor is not too heavy but at the same time a little syrupy-like, which I like. I taste of chocolate and dark roasted malt. It is very complex. It is definitely reminiscent of a certain North Coast Brew, but I think this one is just a little better. I thought after tasting it, it is a imperial stout. I guess I do not care what they consider it, it is just too good. What a great beer!

Poured cold into the goblet, started with a sharp raw alcohol aroma, when warmed it became more chocolately and the wood character comes out. Jet black, heavy in the glass with a rich dark tan head. Some thick stubborn sludge in the bottom of the bottle. Charcoal, thick, burnt, sweet, smooth, gracious. Warming finish, thrilled to have this year round.

courtesy of Kris Butler and Laurent Mousson - clear very dark coloured; no foam remaining; roasted chcolate aroma with notes of fresh apples and vanilla; oily and sticky, full-bodied and with a solid bitterness; dry and long solid bitterness with more chocolate and some robust hoppy notes coming through; late warming alcohol kick - rich, complex and with lot of character

Pours a very dark, opaque black with no head even off a pretty firm pour. Nose is heavy with alcohol.Very slight roasted tones to it. Flavor is extremely robust with a roasted quality to it that is deep and clings to the palate. Unfortunately, that drops off to a thinner flavor, though there is still a strong lasting aftertaste. Feel is low on carbonation and bordering on syrup like. Overall a pretty good beer. I only wish the initial flavor profile would hold out a lot longer.

dark, small tan head. aroma is roasted malt, sweet. the finish is loaded with roasted malt bitterness that, for me, detracts from it. surprisingly light bodied.
