Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

This would hold up extremely well against most stouts, both in alcoholic intensity and opacity. Nice well balanced brew with lingering dryness that usually gets steamrolled in most hoptastic stouts coming from the west coast. Take this any day.

Bottle. Aroma of dark fruit, toasted / roasted malt, some bourbon and chocolate. The flavor is similar with a noticable amount of alcohol. Pretty complex and tasty.

This most certainly is not an American Strong Ale. It is a stout, plain & simple. It should be listed as such. More of an Imperial Sweet Stout, to be exact. Pours out dark brown, with a mocha colored head. Aromas are of stout, stout, & more stout. Flavors are of stout, stout, & more stout. It’s a stout. Get it?

Chocolatey in a Hershey syrup kind of way. Subtle hints of vanilla on the finish. Very flavorful, but still quite drinkable.

Bottle: Poured a black color ale with a off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter roasted malt with some citrus hops is intriguing. Taste is dominated by some medium roasted malt mix with some bitter hops as well as some oak and maybe light bourbon and vanilla notes. Very interesting and complex beer with a full body and no alcohol was discernable.

Deep brown to black hue with a smallish frothy tan head. Prunes, raisins, chocolate, bourbon, molasses, tawny port and marzipan are all jumbled up in the aroma. And the bourbon/alcohol? There’s a lot of it. Starts sweet with chocolate and brown sugar. Runs through a tonne of dark fruits with significant acidity and finishes blazingly hot with lots of, you guessed it, bourbon. Maple sugar starts to come through in the aroma eventually, but both the flavour and aroma are way too hot and sharp. As it warms, liquorice comes on strong. Oily with soft carbonation and a very thick body. Too boozy, not well integrated, would be very interesting to see how it all works out after five years.

22oz bottle. Aroma: Deep roastiness with notes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Light woodiness. Some herbal hop notes. Dark fruits and some significant alcohol. Appearance: Dark brown in color and slightly oily looking. Dark tan head was full and foamy with good retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, smoke, dark fruits, molasses. Some grassy and herbal hop flavors meld into a nice hop bitterness. Alcohol is just short of being too much. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol warming all over mouth. Overall: This was good, but could have been better. Flavors were a little muddled and alcohol came on strong at times. Still, the overall flavors were nice. Good beer.
