0.65 L bottle bought at de Bierkoning, Amsterdam. An opague, dark brown body under a mediumsized, greyish-brown head. Roasted dark malts and black, bitter chocolate is dominating the aroma. Spicy and leafy hops is noticable. Taste has an unusual, burnt and acidic maltiness., with bitter-sweet chocolate and tones of salty licorice, tea-leaves and earthy bittering hops. Healthy body. Oily in the mouth. Alcohol warmth and heavily roasted malts in the finish.

Bottle. Pours black with a thick beige head. Aroma is of cola, molasses, and chocolate. The flavor is very complexly layered and rich, with molasses, toffee, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, dried cherry, and smokiness. Starts out rather sweet, but is balanced out a bit by a bit of alcohol heat and a woody, coffee bitterness. This stuff is really impressive for the price and availability of it.

Bottle. Pours a dark beer with a lightbrown head. The aroma is malt, sweetness, roasted and notes of wood. The flavor is roasted, licorice, chocolate and slight notes of vanilla. The palate has some alcoholwarmth. Overall a really good beer.

not at all what i was expecting, i suppose i thought it was going to be more like an arrogant bastard, but this was more of a porter to me than in asa. really surprising abv strength that at times was a little overbearing, nice roasted malt character that soothed the burn of the alcohol, but overall a great beer that i probably wont do again.

Pours a pitch black like oil with a foamy tan hed which fades to deccent lacing. aroma is of roasted grains, chocolate, licorice, and some smoked meat. flavor is of roasted malt, chocolate, burnt coffee, licorice, and some smoked meat. has a thick, full body with a oily texture and a bitter licorice and vinger finnish. overall, diffrent then the typical American Storng Ale but tasty none the less.

22 oz bottle. Pours like oil, but absolutely no head or carbonation. Not sure if a got a dud, but surprising the flavor was still great. Nose and taste is chocolately and hints of coffee. Nice subtle oakiness in the background. It has a nice sweetness that balances nicely with the other complexities of this beer. Very thick and rich, definitely a sipping beer. ABV is hardly detectable. If the beer wasn’t so flat, it would have a higher rating.
