Definitely not your Dad’s Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that’s as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Pours black/very dark brown with a large tan head. Nose shows cocoa, toasty malt, figs and nutty malt. Flavours include more roast, sweet burnt toast, some pine and resin. Too highly carbonated.

750 mL bottle. I’m assuming that this is mis-labelled here. It’s not an ASA. Or a barleywine, which is what the name led me to believe. Way too much dark/chocolate/black/roasted malt flavour. If I had to label it I’d say it’s a double black IPA. And a darn good one.

Looks like motor oil. Huge spongy head. Licorice sweetness with an espresso end. Massive beer. Leaves a very bitter roasted taste that lingers forever. Nice.

Bottle shared thanks to Tim and Rachel at Proof happy hour! Pours a deep black with hints of purple red, bubbly tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma and taste of vanilla, molasses, roast, slight bakers chocolate. Well hidden booze, but still some warming on the way down, nicely done.
