| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2007 Basically opaque espresso colored, with a quickly fading brown head. Aroma is roasty sweet with chocolate notes. Taste is much drier and way more alcoholic than I expected with a strong espresso-like presence. Mouthfeel is a bit rough with a slightly woody astringent edge. $12 / 500ml ghawener (1000), San Salvador, El Salvador

I could have sworn it tasted like some type of imperial stout or something. The last person’s description sounds like what I had but still doesn’t sound like an american strong ale, unless you’re using an extreme poetic license. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

Malty, smoke, whiskey notes, herbal aroma. Has a very smooth body. Sweet malts, some nice cocoa, molasses, lightly herbal. Such a mellow and smooth beer. Beautifully complex yet blended together magically. Long and bitter alcohol finish. This is a beer for the ages. I don’t know if it’s possible to beat this brew. pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Tap: Dark brown, not see through, with a small off-white head. It has a strong, hoppy back bone. A bit of coffee flavors initially and then to leather and other dry tastes. It seemed to have a fairly thin feel. Another great brew to drink slowly. Extremely enjoyable.
