3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Illini08 (541) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 9, 2009My first rating in quite a while. Absolutely black pour with a frothy mocha colored head. Lightly hoppy, chocolate aromas. chocolate, bourbon, woody flavors. very thick and chewy mouthfeel. lightly hoppy finish with some booze in there as well. not a beer that i would drink very often though just because it’s so chewy and thick. not to mention 22oz of this stuff to yourself spells trouble!

Big head, nice color. Roasted coffee, mocha, vanilla, earth, anise, very mild oak. Medium finish not too heavy, light hops. Nice.

Pours from bottle black with an inch of khaki foam. Not a long on the nose. Definitely feels like motor on the tongue. Lots of roasted malt ant licorice. Finish lingers a bit. Solid for style.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tdmuel (84) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Pours a super thick dark brown almost black with a big fluffy brown head. Lots of big toasted malt on the nose, sweet dark fruit, molasses, coffee and oak. The toasted malt and oak are really strong in the taste, dark bitter chocolate, dark coffee, and some dark fruit. Full bodied, very thick and viscous. Quite a good beer, but I think I prefer older viscosity.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 eros47 (40) - Huntington Park, California, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Pours pitch black with brown head. Tight bubbles, little carbonation. Smells like coffee, chocolate, oak, and cigar ash. Full body coats your palate and lingers.
4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Psytron (875) - Turku, FINLAND - APR 30, 2013
Smell of coffee and cocoa. Black with high brown head. Aroma of ash, coffee, cocoa, tar. Bitter. Viscous, living up to the name. Barbed. Awesome attitude.
Comparison between Harviestoun Old Engine Oil and this: OEO is oily and droopy, this one is ashy and barbed.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 rosenbergh (4655) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 29, 2013
650 ml bottle. Bottled 8/7/12. Kaisla, Helsinki, Finland.
Pitch black colour with a small tan head.
The aroma is very strong roasted malt, sweet caramel, dark bread, ash, coffee, soy sauce, mild salt and mild dark chocolate. I would call the aroma complex.
The flavour is at least as strong. Roasted malt, grassy bitter hops, ash, coffee bitterness, salt and mild dark chocolate.
Alcohol is very well hidden. I have a bomber in front of me. That’ll be a challenge. It’s warming... like hell. But the flavour is very enjoyable and lingering. It’s absolutely great brew but also very nice beer to share. Wow! What a beer.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Torrefacto (62) - - APR 12, 2013
Negro opaco, espuma beige densa y duradera. Aromas a chocolate, bizcocho, y torrefacto.
