22oz. Bomber: This one pours a slightly thick, extremely dark brown. It looks a bit like used 30 weight oil. It forms a small but dense tan head. Coffee and chocolate are the first things that hit the nose. Some bourbon and possibly a hint of vanilla in the background. Very tasty. There is a hint of the alcohol right up front, along with the chocolate malt. A hint of fruits follow, but no real sweetness to it. Feels a bit warming in your mouth. This is excellent. I’ve got to try and get a few more before they are gone!

Bottled. Opaque color, short brown head, only some lacing. Aroma of chocolat, some coffee, roasted malt, mocha. Great. Taste of roasted barley (lol), milk chocolat, very bitter, some coffee. Nice balance.

Bottle... TITW Part Deux... This beer rocks!... Black ale with a small, creamy, brown head. Nutty, toasted malt aroma with notes of graham, light butterscotch, vanilla and chocolate. The flavor is medium sweet, but also heavily bitter and burnt with plenty of vanilla and alcohol. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Red hot, bitter finish. World class beer! Thanks to scraff for sharing his bottle!

Bottled version from 2001. This is one of my favorites. I wish I had bought many bottles at the Strong Ale Festival when I had the chance. Poured a nice black (deep dark ruby when lighted from behind) with a moderately thick, tan head that had a rosy tint. Aroma was full of malts, chocolate and a tad vinous. Flavor was full and complex. Full of malt, chocolate, and sweet! Notes of plum, currant, and raison. Light bitterness in the aftertaste. Very full mouthfeel - chewy and fulfilling. Moderate carbonation full of tiny, soft bubbles. Steady throughout the whole bottel - left a thin layer of creamy carbonation during the whole session. My wife thinks this would make an incredible marinate but I don't have the heart to sacrifice any that way!

Cocoa, and chocolate covered fruit dominate the aroma, like opening a box of cordials and taking a whiff, takes on a slight port like quality as the alcohol starts coming off, body is huge and thick, no head to speak of,taste starts like Black Forest cake, delicious and chewy with slight molasses, and cake batter in the middle and a nice hop bitterness in finish. Stunning in all repects, wonderful label, will have a standing order for this at all times

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a creamy brown head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet baking chocolate, some coffee and grains, a touch of molasses and fruits.

The flavor is sweet fudgy chocolate followed by some roasted nuts, coffee and some dark fruits. There is some alcohol present, but it’s well done and not offensive. The finish has a good amount of bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, this is very complex and could easily be a mixed together mess, but it is very well put together and all the different flavors just accentuate each other. It’s sublime and a very decadent and tasty treat.

Pours black and thick as a starless night. Small tight tan head. Slight smokieness in nose. Dark bitter taste start to finish. Great beer.

22 oz bottle: the pour is black as coal with a small tan head. The aroma is fairly sweet smelling with notes of chocolate, coffee dark fruits and vanilla. The flavor is of sweet milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla and dark fruits changing to a more roasted, coffee and dark chocolate flavors with a mild bitterness. The 10% is very well hidden. Very smooth. I would drink this everyday if I could.
