3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber into tulip. Darkest brown; thick, poofy mocha head. Smells of dark chocolate, marzipan, leather, metal shavings, cherry and blackberry. Predominant dark ryebread and charred plum flavor… hugely roasty, bitter black malt, plasticy phenols and solventlike alohol. A bit one-dimensional. Where’s the oak? Creamy, sugary palate. Espresso finish. Why isn’t this called imperial stout? Totally off the mark for ASA. In pursuit of a super black, super alcohol beer, some quality was lost.

Bottled 650ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Pitch black, medium sized brown head, chocolate in the nose. Heavy roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, dried fruits and alcohol with rather sweet finish. Dried fruits and roastiness in the aftertaste with back up alcohol. Couldn’t find myself in this one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled @ Roosteri. Bottled 07/06/12. Almost black beer, dark beige head. Truly intense malt flavor, oily liquid bread, sweet dough, raw cocoa and loads of fragrant, light dried fruits and slightly acidic berries. Deep, deep maltiness, liquid bread, sticky and slightly acrid toast. Long aftertaste with cold coffee and loads of raw chocolate. Slightly oaky finish has aged sherry notes with firm, clean bitterness. Full body, velvety soft texture with woody dry finish.

1 pint bottle; jet black with brown head. Rusty, dark chocolate, coffee, a bit of wooden, also some ripe fruits and whisky aromas. Taste complex, light sweet and medium bitterness, very nice mouth feel, with long finish. A very good beer!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft @ The Blackbird, SMF. Roasty notes in aroma. Black color with reddish tint on edges, Little to no head. Very malty flavor, with roast, a little sweetness, touch of molasses. Doesn’t taste as alcoholic as it is, very smooth. Full malty mouthfeel. Overall, a delicious Strong Ale!

Bottle. Not my first. I love the Older Viscosity with all my heart and this is almost as good. Big flavour with Chocolate, fag-ash, vanilla, stewed prunes and coffee all making an appearance. Bold and well balanced. Wonderful stuff.

Butelka 0,65 l. Czarna, nieprzejrzysta barwa, gęsta niczym zużyty olej silnikowy (patrz etykieta na butelce) konsystencją mocno przypomina RISy. Aromat ciemnych owoców, wanilii, kawy, czekolady. Alkohol bardzo dobrze ukryty.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled date of 10.23.13.
Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 06.20.14.
A: 5 finger tan head that stays. Midnight black with no red in the glass.
S: Lots of chocolate. Also dark fruit, cherry, and cream. It’s almost mousse-like.
T: Chocolate, mousse, and cream dominate. Cherry and a tiny bit of oak woodiness are subtle.
M: Creamy smooth.
O: Wow, this blew me away! I was not expecting such complexity and flavor. The cherry really comes on strong to mix with the chocolate and slight oak. The alcohol is hidden very well and nothing throws off the balance. This is a favorite for sure.
