Vanilliger Antrunk, weich, harmlos. Deutlich Bourbon, mild erdig, weiter Vanille. Ebenfalls nur gering röstig, zum Ende alkoholisch. Ein merkwürdig mildes Bier. 8/11/10/9/9/10

Drinking a two year old version. Lots of intense flavor. Very good but very potent. A sipper for sure.

Poured a dark black color with aromas of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wood, ligt roast, and some sweetness. Flavors follow the aroma a light creaminess on the palate. I could drink this beer everyday and not get tired if it.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tricyclist (444) - Spring Hill, Florida, USA - JAN 13, 2013
This is a beautiful beer!! Sample pour of deep dark, murky blackness with no head. Nose is intense bourbon with oak, heavy vanilla and chocolate all over. Absolutely amazing! Flavor is boozy as can be, due to the bourbon. Vanilla and smooth roasted malts throughout. Bourbon... and more bourbon... I’m in love. Smooth caramel throughout... Killer... Smooth medium body with no lacing... Wow.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 brystmar (455) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Mmm, by far the best of the two versions. Minimal head disappears quickly. Tobacco, leather, bourbon in the nose. Much of this carries over to the taste as burnt malts jump on board. Tasty and complex; a nice brew to grab once in awhile.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DrSilverworm (2703) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 8, 2013
12.7 oz bottle, thanks to Jay. Black color. Minimal off-white head. Bits of lace. Awesome big bourbon oak nose. Vanilla, chocolate syrup. Bigger body. Light carbonation. Dry finish. Taste is sweet with an alcoholic bite. Hard to drink unless you do it in very small sips, definitely a noticeable 12%. Very aromatic ale, great bourbon character, but lacks a balance, hurts drinkability. Makes me curious to try the standard ’Old Viscosity’ -- I bet that has what I’m looking for
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Elwood (2491) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Serving: 375 ml. bottle of the 2011 vintage from Habersham Liquors. It pours a muddy dark brown with a very slight head. The nose is heavy raisin, lighter bourbon, vanilla, and roasted malt. The flavor leans towards the sweet side with dark dried fruit, slight soy, bourbon, vanilla, and light chocolate. Rich and very full bodied with a lasting, warming boozy finish. Rather tasty.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Drake (6488) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - JAN 2, 2013
2011 vintage. Pours a clear dark orange-brown color with a thin head that fades quickly. Aroma of whisky, roasted malts, raisin booze. The taste is booze, roasted malts, chocolate, raisin. Medium bodied. Solid beer.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 conlepa1 (55) - Chillicothe, Illinois, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Pours black. Little head. Aroma is strong figs with molasses and bourbon. Taste... Outstanding. Complex, yet simple. Interesting yet balanced. Everything plays so well together. There’s bourbon, sweetness, roasted malt, and just enough hops to control the sweetness. This is an eye roller. Every sip gets better as it gets warmer. Its almost as though this brew has established its own style, or better yet, marries the styles of stout, barley wine, and strong ale. The best of each world. Truely a world class brew worth savoring. I really like it, can you tell?
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Prufrockstar (200) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Draft at Bigwood, 12/6/2012 [7 of 11]. From notes.
Aroma: Bourbon, oak, sticky sweetness, dark fruit and toffee there as well.
Appearance: Deep dark, think. Ring of off-white head.
Taste: Smoke. Barrel. Chocolate. Toffee. Finishes with s roasted coffee. Mississippi Mud Blizzard.
Mouthfeel: Full-bodied. Viscous. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: I’m a sucker for beers like this. So dar, rich, sweet and oaky -- this is the stuff I love.
