(375ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Feb 6 2015) Pours basically black with a small tan head fading quickly to a ring. Aroma has lots of bourbon spirit notes, some vanilla/wood too, some pretty intense fudge/toffee malts, almost creamy, fruity prune-type notes, a bit of nutty toasted malt too. Palate loaded with malt, toffee/fudge/raw sugar/milk chocolate/toast, and also lots of bourbon flavour. Vanilla oak and prunes as well, fleshing it out and giving just a little fruit acidity. Quite sweet overall but with some spicy whiskey alcohol heat towards the finish drying it out, and subtle roast too for bitterness. Full bodied, creamy and oily, with soft but active carbonation. Big big beer. Warming and maybe a touch too sweet to be really drinkable. Total sipper. Hides its alcohol well. It’s definitely a good one, but really calls for a cold night and a fire.

Lightly fruity with plums, raisins and burned sugar, very little toasted malts and a decent bourbon oakiness to it, a bit vanilla, wood, and alcohol is a bit too forward, in general it’s very thin.

Pours an average light brown frothy head that slowly diminishes. Body is black some sparkles are viible at the surface of the glass. Aroma contains moderate malts (dark bread, hay, caramel milk chocolate, roasted and toasted malts, nuts and strong coffee), light hops (pine, grass, orange zest), light yeasts (barnyard, leather) and grape, raisin, bourbon, pine apple, cask wood, peach and other sweet fruits, spices, banana, vanilla and apple. flavor is light acidic, then light acidic and sweet, followed by sweet (and bourbon), sweet and light bitter, sweet and bitter and finishing in espresso bitter and bourbon. Body is full with syrupy texture and soft carbonation. subtle, balanced and complex with bourbon coming through from time to time. The way I like it.

Bottle split 5 ways as part of Dangerous Bottleshare 5.0. Jet black pour with a tiny tan head. Loads of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, some soy sauce and light licorice. Hides the ABV pretty good. Tasty stuff!

Longue finale.

Bottle, 12.7fl oz (whatever that may mean), vintage 2011. Pours pretty viscous as promised, black with absolutely no head. Aroma is spicey bourbon, vanilla, malted milk biscuit, custardy, maybe a touch of oxidation. Body is medium to big, very smooth, low carbonation. Taste is also very smooth, chocolate and vanilla, sweet malt, oaky, tangy dark fruit, a little sharp bourbon booziness towards the end. Very good. I never thought I’d say this...but maybe it’s too big. Reminds me of some big sweet barley wines I’ve had. Too much for one person - doesn’t leave you wanting more!

Pours black, smallish tan head that dies quickly. Nose of whiskey, boozy heat, toffee, fudge, vanilla, milk chocolate, prunes. Tastes huge sweet milk chocolate, toffee, prune, cocoa, vanilla oak, whiskey, molasses, muscovado, some moderate roast bitterness and slightly dry finish. Full body, creamy slick feel, softish carb, long molasses and light acid roast finish. Nice; a trifle sweet but good complexity, lots of whiskey character.
