Shared a bottle with benzai @ benzai. Pitch black with no head at all. Smells sweet, wood, bourbon, nuts, roasty, chocolate, praline. Tastes sweet, roasty, almond, wood, bourbon, chocolate, praline.. Lovely beer. Full body, quite a lot of alcohol but not bothering, soft carbo. Amazing beer. Worth my 15 euro.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2014 22.12.2013, 0,375l bottle (2009 vintage) @ home:
No head, completely flat. Aroma is rich and sweet, mild bourbon, vanilla, dark sugar, dark malts, licorice, caramel, dark chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet, mild bourbon, licorice, dark sugar, dark malts, vanilla, oak, caramel, Medium bitterness "flat" mouthfeel. Very nice, even though the lack of carbonation, and therefore also a nice brown head, is kind of a turnoff compared to other similar beers.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Yet again, I’m allured to the potential of Tomme. Deep breath.
A: Pull the cage off the cork and give the cork a firm twist and tug, the bitch barely moves. Finally work it off to an underwhelming "oop" of cork expanding out the mouth of the bottle. Pours out a dark, dark maduro ale with a sheet of transient cocoa foam. The foam disappears in a few seconds to leave a rim of the same bordering a mirrored surface over this darky. No lace.
S: Oak, licorice, black cherry, molasses and dark malts. Some sweet bourbon notes. Kinda has a cake smell on it.
T: Hot as hell. The alcohol is the first thing I notice. Then toasted cocoa and coffee alongside some vanilla notes and just a whiff of coconut. Some nice bourbon tones. Really, really potent.
M: Thick and viscous (fancy that), carbonated (fancy that!!), an oddly sticky yet dry finish.
O: So here’s the thing, I can drink this, and would say it’s a decent beer. I would argue it is overpriced compared to similar beers. The barrels really come through stronger than I prefer, but they are exactly that - barrels previously having held alcohol. Would I drink again? Absolutely. Will I purchase another bottle? If I find one at the same price ($17/375ml) that is at least two years old then I will. Otherwise, this one can sit on the shelves.

On tap at Three Floyds. Black with a foamy brown head. Big bourbon and marshmallow aroma with booze. Taste is full of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, with a boozy finish. Delicious. Body is thick like a milkshake.

Blurs the line between a Strong Ale and a Stout. Definite bourbon flavor from the aging. Yet smooth and balanced for 12%Abv. Not boozy at all. Just plan good. Sip and savor!! Expensive and worth it. Simply a great beer to experience and enjoy.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a corked pint bottle purchased at Port Brewery/Lost Abbey deep brown black with a thin tan head.
Aroma of bourbon.
Taste is roasted malted cocoa with strong alcohol burn that is totally warming while wonderful.
This is one thick delicious mouth feel. Sweetness is strong but the bourbon finish makes pretty much perfect.
Overall this will be in my top 10 of great brews consumed in 2013. Wished Port had not limited our buy to only one.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a black color with no head. The aroma was of molasses, bourbon, chocolate, syrup and spices. The taste was on the bourbon/booze side with caramel, dark fruit and molasses. Well done.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
375 ml bottle bought through Brill & Co. Pours black with a very small dark chocolate brown head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace worth mentioning. Smell is sweet, malty and boozy with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, caramelized almonds, bourbon, brandy, sweet liquorice candy, charred wood, leather, moist soil, blueberry glazed doughnuts and subtle hints if chlorine. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and boozy with toasted malts, caramel, biscuits, toffee, cocoa powder, charred wood, brandy, bourbon, rum soaked raisins, vanilla fudge, roasted nuts, leather, sweet dark bread, moist soil, hay, blueberry jam and dried pine needles. Mouthfeel is round, slightly sticky sweet, tiny creamy, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, bourbon, rum soaked raisins, charred wood, vanilla fudge, moist soil and leather. Very good but for some reasons I expected more. Especially the mouthfeel feels a bit off being surprisingly light bodied and boozy.
