A- pours a heavy, opaque oily black with the faintest of medium khaki head that quickly dissipates. S- aromas of oak, raisin bread, dog food grains, caramel malts, molasses are ripe. Alcohol is also nice. Some vanilla, rhubarb, mince meat pie and prunes. M- relatively medium watery body for such a heavy beer with a sticky medium palate that has some bite on the end. Light carbonation. T- caramel, bourbon, molasses and bread are first. Some earthiness and vegetal notes in the middle with root beer, zinc and vanilla. Ending is more alcohol, raisins, grains and mineral water. Aftertaste is long and slightly stinging.

Solid black with no head. Aroma is soy sauce, liquorice, molasses, bourbon, chocolate, earthy mushrooms, hint of vanilla. Oily, viscous mouthfeel, sweet on the palate with a load of umami and a hint of roast, balanced booziness on the finish. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, soy sauce, liquorice, fig, molasses, raisins, hint of oak. This is the kind of beer I live for.

Pour an inky black with no head. The nose is soy sauce, bourbon, vanilla and date. The pallet starts with caramel malt and molasses followed by vanilla, date, booze, cocoa nib and finishes with a balanced bourbon and oak ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Oily pitch black pour with very minimal head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, licorice, chocolate. Big, mouth-warming mouthfeel. Nice alcohol heat all the way down. Bitter chocolate/cocoa at the finish. Great sipper.

Corked & Caged 375 ml Bottle. Naturally a sludgy black motor oil pour with no head. Mostly bittersweet chocolate, coconut, dark fruit and bourbon notes in the aroma. The taste delivers a healthy serving of bourbon, roasted malt and espresso in addition to some dark chocolate and molasses toward the end. A relatively viscous body with low carbonation leads to a charred whiskey finish. The bourbon notes seamlessly blend with the Old Viscosity base. Great stuff.

2011 vintage - Pours pitch black with a tiny white head. Lovely aroma of smooth bourbon notes, roasted malts, oak, wood, vanilla and syrup. Taste is smooth, warming, sweet and slightly roasty with loads of bourbon, oak, wood, vanilla and syrupy notes, hints of chocolate and coffee. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty and lingering bitter with some long lasting warming vinous bourbon notes, oak, wood, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Quite a bourbon overdose, but still extremely tasty, complex and very enjoyable. Excellent stuff.

Draft @ GABF. On a day where I had so many great beers, this one jsut didn’t shine as bright. Big oaky vanilla, boozy bourbon, cocoa, some marshmellow, dark fruits, quite sweet. Boozy bitter finish.

Tap. Dark brown, near black with a tan head. Smells like bourbon, oak, raisins, and roasted malt. Flavor is similar with some chocolate. Medium to full bodied.

Several servings at GABF. Pours ink black with half finger of foam. Smell of vanilla, prunes, cotton candy. Tastes of vanilla, bourbon, raisin, cloves, with a sweet finish and mild EtOH. Mouthfeel is thick and wonderful. Overall, amazing beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2009 vintage thanks to nate321. Cork opens up without much fanfare... bummer. Pours a really, really dark brown with no head and still looking. Aroma is nice with wood, bourbon, vanilla. Taste is sweet but not too much with nice caramel and alcohol flavors. Some charred malt notes. I thought the absence of carbonation would disturb me but it is not really the case... It is actually really fun to drink and slick. Nice one! Not sure what was up with the carbonation, though.
