A dark brown pour with almost no head. I really liked the aroma combination of oaked alcohol, a hint of vanilla, and rich malt. The abv is here in the flavor but not overpowering. It has a nice chocolate maltiness that adds very good balance to it. The palate is solid across not over carbonated and not thin but just off somehow. A very good beer that seems to be a tad hot for most but me I like it very much.

Bottled. Poured a deep, chocolatey brown with just a couple loose bubbles for head. Aroma picked up lots and lots of sweet bourbon.. deep vinous and oaky notes too.. enjoyed it, but the booze factor was a bit too overt. Flavor found sweet bourbon and chocolate upfront (a bit too focused on the booze).. mild chocolate over the middle, then more vanilla, oak, and bourbon from the barrel treatment through the long finish. Medium-bodied but slick on the palate.. bourbony finish with vanilla.. STRONG!

Thanks Matt. The beer pours to a really dark brown body with no head. The aroma is hugely oaken vanilla with sherry and port wine galore. Awesomely complex. The flavor is vanilla, oak, chocolate, sherry, bourbon, honey, and coffee. The palate is rich, alcoholic, full bodied.

No head, pitch black. The nose is more bourbon than beer. Body is complex, you get chocolate and roast malts with bourbon really topping it off. Sweet chocolate finish, really digging this brew, Toms about to rate malt liquor.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black with a small, slowly forming light brown head. Very light aromas of butterscotch, cocoa, coffee and chocolate. Massive flavor, very intense and concentrated. Balanced, and definitely more malt accented than barrel accented. Much more chocolate, coffee, etc. comes through than the bourbon, oak, vanilla and coconut. Those barrel elements are still there, just lighter and in the back round. Itís a nice beer and I really like it. Personally, Iíd like to see more wood character, but thatís just me.

In my notes I describe the appearance of this beer with one word ... beauty. Very much like the Old Viscosity in its aroma and flavor, but more so on the oak and the bourbon. You must be a bourbon fan to enjoy this beer. But if you are you will love it.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg, Pizza Port / Port Brewing event at Brickskeller. Pours an incredibly dark cherry-cola color; medium brown head with lacing that lasts forever on the sides of the glass. Dense, buttery and milk chocolate aroma; sweet and creamy. Full, chewy mouthfeel: dense diacetyl character; buttery, sweet sour-mash middle, with plenty of oaky toastiness and creaminess; excellent density of flavor and sweetness. Long, dried dark fruits and bourbony finish; great stuff. Aaron didnít realize that I actually drank his sample as well and replaced it with Miller Chill.
