Sampled at Feb 2010 Indy tasting - Aroma is deep dark malts, vanilla and dark chocolate. The flavor is crazy full of of chocolate malts and vanilla. Palate is smooth and creamy. Wow a fantastically tasty beer. I have to admit, by this point in the tasting, I was feeling it. But this beer still blew me away. I want more!

On tap at Stong Ale Fest - 2015. Pour is deep black with a small brown head and decent lacing. Dark chocolate, coffee, some vanilla, wood, bourbon, toffee, raisins, and prunes in the aroma. Taste is Big raisins, figs, brown sugar, dates, lots of bourbon, caramel malty, and somewhat vinous. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Tasty stuff.

Strong bourbon notes with the oak, vanilla, and some chocolate coming through too. Real nice dark brown color accented by the reddish amber hue along the edges. Not much in the way of a foam cap but spotty slight lacing is there. Beautiful bourbon flavor intertwined with oak, vanilla, and cocoa. Pretty full bodied on the palate with a creamy feel finishing with some heat. Absolutely wonderful whiskey barrel aged stout!

Massive beer. It’s in a characteristic profile that’s not to my personal taste - lot’s of dark ripe fruits like dates, raisins, figs, plus molasses with very dark/black malts/grains. Luckily I could pick up a bit of roasty dryness to balance it a touch, not nearly enough, but it helped.

Bottle. 2011 vintage. A: Pure black with a ring of mocha head. Good lacing. N: Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, coconut, cocoa, dark cherry, prune, red velvet cake. T: Very sweet. Hint of tartness. M: Heavy, oily body, fuzzy carbonation, alcohol hits the nose. O: A fine, viscous beer. The bourbon aging is excellent. Could use a touch more body, bit otherwise, well worth one’s time.

Tasted from draft. Pours black with dark brown head. Aroma is sweet with bourbon and caramel notes as well as some dark fruits. Taste is very complex. Bourbon flavor with caramel, syrup, dark fruits, oak, toffee, vanilla and some toasty notes. Excellent and complex beer that hides the alcohol very well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Delicious foamhead! Very complex, soft, viscosey and deep malt beverage! Slight bourbon peppery hints, vanilla, cassis in the far background, lots of brown chocolate aromas. Mouthfeel is stunning. A lot of depth in the taste profile; Heaven Hill (a lot more than the Rasputin HH BA from De Molen!) Kentucky whiskey, vanilla, cane sugar in the middle, slight fizzy on the tongue in the aftertaste. I get lots of brown chocolate and raisins in the after too. Loveeeee this! Long lasting heat on the palate... and stomach.
