4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap @ Chuckís 85th. A rare enough beer but a real treat to find on tap. Pours inky super thick black with thin creamy mocha head. Aroma is soy sauce, charred malt, dark chocolate, and bourbon. Taste is similar with even richer flavors and heavy mouthfeel. Big oaky flavor. Not quite as strong on the bourbon as I expected as this is pretty much cask strength. Comes in 375 bottles for a reason - a little of this goes a long way. Much bigger beer than Old Viscosity, bigger flavor in every regard, but much less drinkable too. Perhaps the perfect dessert beer?

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from 2009 shared by alexsdad06 pour opaque dark brown to black with minimal tan head. Nose Bourbon, boozy, raisin, molasses, and light off. Taste flavors seem thin up front with thick mouth feel, weird. More raisin, and caramel in the aftertaste. Likely much better fresher.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, bought at Erzbierschof about a year ago, says "vintage 2013 b" on the shoulder. Very, very strong bourbon barrel throughout. There probably *is* an American Strong Ale hiding behind that, but itís hard to tell. And so there is not much more to say, except maybe low carbonation, boozy, etc. Nice, but rather one-dimensional.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
12.7 oz bottle into a snifter. Black, with a thin, light brown head. Quickly dissipating. Aroma is unreal - a ton of the bourbon and barrel initially; some wood/oak. The taste and finish on this is incredible. Havenít had a beer like this ever. The alcohol is soft, shining through to highlight the huge chocolate - almost like a milkshake, vanilla, huge toffee, caramel. Soft bitterness, but the flavour goes and goes. I really enjoyed this; canít wait to find a few more of these gems

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours black with a dark brown head. It has aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, and dark chocolate. The vanilla becomes more prominent as the beer warms. There are flavors of bourbon, oak, alcohol, cocoa, dark chocolate, roast, a little bit of burnt, and hints of dark fruit. It is full body with a bit of a slick feel to it. There is strong alcohol warming and the finish is slightly hot. It has low carbonation. Overall this is a strong ale with complex combinations of bourbon, oak, and malts with a slight hop compliment.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2016 Dark pour with very little carbonation from a 2013 bottle into a snifter glass. It has mild vanilla, bourbon, and the oak barrel aroma. Taste is a mild caramel and vanilla up front that transitions to a smooth bourbon middle and finish. Top 10 beer!

On tap at Harryís Hofbrau in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is cherries, bourbon, deep dark chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate covered bourbon cherries. Booze is completely hidden. Palate is oily and creamy. Beautifully tangy, sweet without being over the top. A perfect combination of bourbon, cherries and chocolate syrup.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
375 ml. Ebony with an enduring thin disc of cream. Aroma is whiskey, tobacco, soy, vanilla, oak and Baby Ruth candy bar. Tastes of all the same stuff, but in the reverse order of strength. Medium-Heavy body is silky smooth with an unobtrusive low-medium carbonation, and a nice balance for a night-cap style brew. I like the blended down Old version a touch better, but this is great stuff.
