0.375l - 2011 Bottling, pours viscous black, nose is coconut, yeast, plum & booze. Palate is similarly layered, no burn or dominant note. Unbelievably good.

On tap at port. Dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, bourbon, and chocolate with roasty notes. Fine silky palate. Nice spicy chocolate, nutty, bourbon and vanilla taste with a slightly alcoholic finish.

Rating #100.....finally an excuse to open this one.
Bottle via mailorder from Joey at South Bay Drugs And Liquor.
Appearance
Pours like motor oil 10,000 miles past when it should have been changed with a small yet bubbly light brown head.
Smell
Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, roasted coffee beans, toasted barley, malt, and some hints of fruits.
Taste
Wow, this rich bourbony beast has a nice decadent chocolate, roasty coffee, bourbon all in wonder flavor going on. The mouthfeel is very full and amazing and the flavors all come together into a blissful co-existance. Notes of fruits linger at the finish but don’t overpower the other desirable flavors of this beast.
Final Thoughts
I’m very glad that I chose this as #100, it did not let me down in any way. This simply put is an amazing brew in a class of it’s own. Simply an amazing world class brew!!!

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2010 Draft at Teresa’s. Pours deep mahogany brown with an oily, slick surface and a razor thin white lacy head. Aroma is very similar to Angel’s Share; bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and roasty malts. Body is full and rich, but not as thick as expected. Silky, slightly smokey palate. Finish has a touch of hop bitterness and a nice warming in the throat. Excellent American strong.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2010 I purchased this for $16 for a single bottle from a liquor store in the San Diego area, consumed with a friend in Portland, OR. When I purchased this, it was something my future wife just threw in the basket because the RateBeer small advertisement next to it said 100 rating. When I was in line, I saw the price and almost put it back. I’m very happy I didn’t! Aroma consisted of brandy, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, toffee, very sweet and it felt like there was 1000 aromas going on at the same time. Appearance is black with a thin brown head. Taste consisted of chocolate, very sweet, alcohol is definitely in the mix with a bourbon base, coconut, etc. As with the aroma, there’s about 1000 things going on with this beer and it’s very smooth...the ingredients aren’t fighting each other. Very happy that I was able to have this.

perfect beer! lots of bourbon barrel smell and taste. maintains a strong chocolate smoothness and a strong bitter bite of bourbon. pretty good lacing for a stout of this age. absolutely delicious beer. 9.5 now and 10 with a couple more years of aging on top of this.

Nothing to say in particular.. I mean... it costs a lot but when you feel the smell into your blood and sloly drink this aged nectar you will be so excited and enticed to drink another one. This is something special. If you find a brasserie or a beer shop with this particular product: First spend your money to buy this and second, congratulate the seller because it’s a signal of competence, knowledge and passion if he knows this beer.... what Im saying? beer? I should say a MILESTONE

Sorprendente, punto. Ottima. Costa un pò ma se la vedete compratela.

Opaque very dark brown with a mocha colored head. Nice chocolate liqueur and a bit of coconut nose. Viscous, chewy moutfheel with a bi of carbonation sting on the back if the tongue that is exacerbated by some hop hotness and then, alcohol warmth. A ton of chocolate and smooth vanilla yield to extraordinary booziness. All except for that alcohol that appears so obtrusively at the finish, this is a remarkably good beer.

Sometimes I scare myself for giving raving reviews all the time but this beer deserves it. I can’t find much of anything wrong with it. Pours out as an intimidating asphalt black. Thick. The flavor will blow your mind. So smooth and I would say an easy sipper for sure. Not hot. You definitly get that oak and vanilla quality from the bourbon aging but it isn’t the dominate flavor (like in Old Rasputin XII). The finish reminds me of Bitter Cocoa powder....like a dark chocolate cake with a lot of DARK chocolate. Sweet, yet dry and bitter. Love it. Such a well mad Strong Ale. I love roasty malts baby.
