Bottle. I’m rating two years side by side but they managed to be very similar so it counts like one. Pours pretty much black with huge chocolate head. Aroma is kind of lighter than you’d expect but has bourbon present along with some chocolate and toffee. Flavor is potent with bourbon, oak, vanilla and rich roasty malts. Smooth beyond belief. Not overpowering in the least and the alcohol is hard to find, this one really does not fall under the category of challenging huge beers but instead along the lines of well crafted and well balanced drinkable barrel aged goodness. Among the BB releases I find the 08 to be the most subtle at this time. Good lord I wish I had bigger bottles of this stuff.

2010 shared by Marcus. Pours black with no head. Taste is Carmel with that old beer raisin flavor. Drinks smooth

Bottle split 5 ways as part of Dangerous Bottleshare 5.0. Jet black pour with a tiny tan head. Loads of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, some soy sauce and light licorice. Hides the ABV pretty good. Tasty stuff!

Longue finale.

Bottle, 12.7fl oz (whatever that may mean), vintage 2011. Pours pretty viscous as promised, black with absolutely no head. Aroma is spicey bourbon, vanilla, malted milk biscuit, custardy, maybe a touch of oxidation. Body is medium to big, very smooth, low carbonation. Taste is also very smooth, chocolate and vanilla, sweet malt, oaky, tangy dark fruit, a little sharp bourbon booziness towards the end. Very good. I never thought I’d say this...but maybe it’s too big. Reminds me of some big sweet barley wines I’ve had. Too much for one person - doesn’t leave you wanting more!

Sample at semi-S&G tasting (since the music was shut down halfway through). APPEARANCE: pitch black beer, small unstable beige head. NOSE: chocolate, coffee, alcohol, caramel. TASTE: toffee, chocolate, coffee, alcohol warming feeling.

Pours black, smallish tan head that dies quickly. Nose of whiskey, boozy heat, toffee, fudge, vanilla, milk chocolate, prunes. Tastes huge sweet milk chocolate, toffee, prune, cocoa, vanilla oak, whiskey, molasses, muscovado, some moderate roast bitterness and slightly dry finish. Full body, creamy slick feel, softish carb, long molasses and light acid roast finish. Nice; a trifle sweet but good complexity, lots of whiskey character.

Bottle from Cervezorama Madrid. Thinner than anticipated. Big oak, bourbon, vanilla. Pretty sweet. Little over-fizzy but a minor grumble. Oily. Very nice very large.

shared 37,5cl bottle with a friend. 2013 version. poured a pitch oil black colour with a small mocha coloured head. sweet dark bakers chocolate, fudge, oak, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts, dark espresso beans, caramel, toffee, spicy booze nose, was expecting a bit more complexity, but it’s still very smooth. recommended to share your bottle.

Bottle to glass. Pours a thick pitch black color with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, molasses, touch of bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate. Flavor has a huge bourbon character, with lots of vanilla, molasses, and roasted malts. Medium to heavy body with a thick creamy mouthfeel and a lingering vanilla and light chocolate. Extraordinary!
