Barrel-aged version of Port Brewing Santas Little Helper.
2009 will be the inaugural release of this winter time classic. After brewing the 2008 batch of Santa’s we thought “wonder what this would taste like aged in a bourbon barrel?”

22oz bottle shared during #bottlecherwednesday at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach. Poured into tulip. Appearance is black with brown edges and a tan head rises a finger high before collapsing to a film. A little bit of patchy lace sticks to the glass. This beer is a barrel bomb! The aroma is all oak, bourbon, vanilla, and char. One of the other guys mentioned he was getting dog food, and he was right on it. Definitely an animal feed element. Not getting much of the base beer. Taste is a less satisfying version of the nose - lots of bourbon heat, vanilla, oak, and chocolate. Medium-heavy body, oily, creamy, thick texture, average to soft carbonation, hot boozy finish.

Heavy smell of licorice, dark coffee, oak and dark chocolate. The taste is the same. Even the heavy. Heavy bitterness that fills the mouth forever. Good beer that you can enjoy for hours. Maybe a little filling, too. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bourbon is crazy in the aroma. The taste is more of the same, with coffee, dark chocolate, dark dried fruit and molasses. ABV is quite obvious and a bit much for me. A decent example of a bourbon barrel aged IS, but not the best I’ve had.

The color is black. Aroma is vanilla, a little roasty. Taste is very sweet, though well balanced and enjoyable.

Bottle, 12.0%. Distinct vanilla aroma, hint of coconut. Black colour. No head. The flavour is sweet with a good vanilla note. Also has a distinct alcohol note in the finish. Vinous vanilla. ’s all good.

Pitch black, small tan head. Barrel and vanilla roma, light licorice. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Coconut, vanilla and chocolate flavour. Alcohlic and warming. Finish has long alcoholic burn. Solid yet quite drinkable.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of roast and vanilla, with notes of barrel and malt and touches of yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of vanilla and barrel and touches of yeast and hops and coffee. Roasty and barrellike aftertaste. Good. Damn good, if boozy. Yeah.

12 oz bottle from Blackwell's, bought online. Drank on Christmas Eve 2014 to get into the spirit! The underlying stout is robust and can stand alone, with flavors of roasted malt, molasses, and chocolate. However, the oak aging on this beer really compliments and accentuates the flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A pitch black, a head is small and brown. Aroma has salt liquirice, riped fruits and raisins, strong notes of bourbon that’s hiding the other nuancees. Taste has salt liquirice, bourbon, raisins and some chocolate. Smooth, almost full bodied, enjoyable. This bourbon barrel aged Santas Little Helper is not even close the marvellous basic version, even this is a good beer, the bourbon is just too dominating.

Silne nuty zapachowe czekolady i wanilii, wyczuwany również bourbon, piana bardzo dobra, smak bardzo głęboki, mocno pobudza kubki smakowe, konsystencja oleju silnikowego. Fantastyczne piwo!
