gorditoabd (162), San Diego, California, USA Nov 6, 2009 Bomber. Pours dark and oily with full tan head, and good carbonation working up the sides of the glass. Aroma is cocoa and bourbon. Flavor is very interesting. Starts out like bitter baker’s chocolate, then goes full on burning, astringent alcohol, but only for the barest of moments before becoming like coffee and kahlua. Nicely balanced at the end and overall a good representation of the style. Not overly complex, and perhaps still a bit immature, but a nice offering indeed. Jblauvs (528), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 27, 2009 Dark viscous pour with a healthy tan head. Aroma is sweet cocoa and a bit of milk chocolate and a tiny bit of musty booze. Nice thick mouthfeel. Comes out hot and boozy. Makes me think I shouldve let it lay much longer. Still tastey though. Choclatey and some vanilla booze that sticks to the tongue for a bit after the swallow. A nice bitter roast in the middle that is quite appealing. Rather simple but tastey. ChrisThomson (374), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 25, 2009 Bottle. 2008 Vintage. Pours black with minimal head. Aroma of coffee, and port. Nice beer. Complex big body, lots of roasted bitter coffee, dark chocolate, alcoholic comes through. Thick olily body, with low carbonation. brenn79 (140), Idaho, USA Oct 23, 2009 sample out of the bottle- Pours deep black with excellent lacing, aroma is of coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. Flavor is the same, strong flavors and a subtle bourbon after taste, but not overbearing. This beer will get you shitfaced. poisoneddwarf (153), Rathdrum, Idaho, USA Oct 23, 2009 Bomber. 2008 vintage. Aroma of coffee, sweet malt--I want to bathe in it. Pours like midnight with a beautiful tan head and perfect lacing. Tastes of black coffee, hints of bourbon, and a touch of sour. Nice bitterness; the alcohol lingers on the tongue. This beer reminds me of how much I love imperial stouts. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 23, 2009 Bottle at home ... Deep black ... thin tan lacing ... soft roast chocolate nose ... nice chocolate ... soft toffee chocole malt ... good depth with more hop than i like showing through in the linger ... low carbonation ... decent ...but not special oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Oct 21, 2009 Utterly black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with roasted barley, like actually chock full of roast. Cocoa nib and a mild cream quality follow, subsiding into some subtle dark fruit, smoke, and booze. Flavor is much sweeter than the aroma would suggest. Caramel, gratuitous roasted barley, cocoa nib, coffee, and a mild to medium low acid hop profile. Palate is silky full and pillowy. Great example of the style in just about every facet. craftycarl21 (510), South Hero, Vermont, USA Oct 21, 2009 Pours motor oil black with a tan 1 finger head. Aroma holds lots of roasted barley, smoke, some bitter chocolate, and coffee grounds. Some cream and a touch of caramel, but there is very little sweetness to the aroma on the whole. Flavor is much sweeter, with roast, caramel, a bit of vanilla, and some definite booze notes. A bit of hop bitterness sneaks in at the finish. Palate is full and silky, but not thick and oily like some imp stouts. A solid example of the style overall; not top notch, but well done as usual by Port Brewing.
