4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour from a bomber. Dark black pour with a nice tan head. Nose is sweet roasted malt with a hint of toasted nut. Soft carbonation while coating everything in your mouth. Nice earthy hops with big dose of roasted malt and bitter chocolate. Really nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Flaska från systemet - mörk som natten men ljust skum, nästan beigt. Kraftig maltig arom med lite inslag av kaffe. Silkeslen i munnen, brända toner och inslag av råsocker.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black with a beautiful head, leaving a nice lacing. Aroma: massive chocolote and coffee, followed by pleasant toast aroma, dark fruit and of course roast aroma. Taste: chocolate, coffee, pleasant hoppy bitterness in the palate, followed by a pleasant alcohol warming. This beer is thick and complex, but at the same time creamy and very drinkable. Well hidden ABV.

Black with a caramel coloured head. Chocolaty taste with a creamy feel in the mouth. A little too fizzy. Not bad really. (K)

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on 10/8/11 from a capped 22oz bottle. Pours a completely opaque midnight black with a thin light brown head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is dominated by milk and dark chocolate, with a roasted savory aroma, and just a hint of coffee. The flavor is malty chocolate up front, moving to very dry and lightly bitter coffee and roasted savory notes. This beer is 10% but it drinks a little hotter. The body is full and creamy with light carbonation and a long very dry, malty dark chocolate, and bitter roasted finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: very dense, light head and just a little lace. Very lifted. Fruity, chocolate, clean, saturated, power, brooding. Very rich, almost dry, hint of bitterness, not sour. Massive flavor. Great power. Very long.
Pretty good example.

1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Poured from a bomber into a snifter on 01.21.15.
A: Cocoa, brown sugar, and milk chocolate.
A: 3 finger light brown foamy head that is retained. Nice bubbles wash up like it’s on nitro. Midnight black body with no red in the glass.
T: Light cocoa and brown sugar dominate. Vinegar and a lingering nuttiness are subtle.
P: Who cares.
O: The vinegar flavor is there enough to distract from the other flavors. Maybe it was Acetobacter? This was a drain pour.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Christmas stout, black with mahogany edges, under a deep beige, medium thick, moussy head. Quite powerful aroma of cured meat and smoked bacon, espresso, bitter chocolate, meat broth, candied figs, banana, vanilla, dry madera wine, grandmother’s sticky candi syrup I still associate with pancakes, black pepper, tobacco, candi sugar, wet leather, chocolate cake, mocha ice cream, blueberries, soy sauce. Refinedly sweet onset, candi syrup accent, candied fruits, pointy and tangy, soft carbo, smooth, oily and thick mouthfeel as usual for the style, yeasty and meaty, wheaty sourish touch and a certain hint of saltiness like liquorice candy, after which thick layers of maltiness unfold, nutty, bitterly chocolatey and roasted, especially in the finish where a thick coffee-like bitterness is confronted with a peppery, spicy, pungent hop bitterness and bourbon-like, warming alcohol; the liquorice-like ’saltiness’ lingers a bit too deep in the background. In all, nothing surprising in the context of its particular style, but - as usual from this brewery - very well crafted and satisfying. Ideal sipper for a cold winter afternoon.
