| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 29, 2008 #900! Deep black color pour with mohogany highlights. A small creamy brown head slowly rises to the top and sticks around throughout. Big roasted coffee and malt aroma, along with chocolate, dark ripe fruit and booze. Flavor is somewhat sweet and chocolatey, with coffee, malty molasses, and the alcohol coming through as well. This is a seriously good IS! StFun (534), Indiana, USA

This is a really solid Impy. Pours a rich, dark black, with a nice amber hue that really shows itself around the edges. Armoa is chocolate and coffee, with a sharp tinge of alcohol. The booziness comes through in the flavor just a little too much, but is overlookable when you consider the great flavor of the beer: chococlate, roasted malts and barley, brown sugar, candy sugar, baking cocoa, coffee grounds, dark candy, and dark fruits. The candy and fruit stay in the background, but add a nice level of complexity. Sugar, chocolate, and coffee are the main players here. Lots going on here, I can’t wait to drink one next Christmas, I think one will age fantastic. GMCC2181 (885), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA

Nice smokey aroma on the nose. Taste was a nice balance of roasted malts and coffee. Quite simple but really good. It reminded me of mikkellers beergeek breakfast. Perfect creamy texture which made it really easy to drink. Great beer, thanks again E! dogfish120love (295), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

Midnight brown, not much head action. Tons of coffee and chocolate aroma. Smelled and tasted with some alcohol warmth. More silky than years prior. Nice ABV level. I am grateful for the simplicity of this Impy Stout.
