smells dark roasted and spicy like salami. dark and heavy like tar, tobacco flavors with liquid sugar. after all this heaviness the finish is soft and easy.

Thanks to awaisanen for this bomber. Pours a deep black with a medium creamy/bubbly deep tan lacing head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, coffee, tropical fruits, cherry, nuts, wood, licorice and roasted malts. Flavors of dark bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, some caramel and vanilla. A decent amount of bitterness with a nice roasty imperial stout character.

Thanks nflmvp! Black with dark brown head. Coffee and chocolate aroma with a little bit of black licorice. Taste is the wonderful same, with some nice hops to even it out. A little bit of dark berry comes out with the coffee/chocolate/roasted malt. Pretty darn thick and not overly carbonated. I love it.

Bottle at the Brickskeller. Charcoal black pour with a reticent grey head. Aroma of almost excessive sweet and bitter layers. Mocha java dark roast, molasses, and soy sauce in that initlal sweet blast. A tart lining of raspberry and cranberry skin. Dark chocolate grahams, brown sugar, reduced rum in wet coffeecake. Slightly cold and slick, but very full. Tastes of a brutish, sweet licorice, cherry, black malt soap, and short, bright winks of citrus. Sophisticated tannins and tartness in an earthy finish. Maybe a bit too sweet altogether. Palate is quietly smooth and a bit loose; it could benefit from a tighter molding of smoke or scotch-tinted malts rather than so much black. Astrigency kicks in with a neutralizing dark chocolate sweetness. Fairly standard, but memorable.

Bottle. [#26 Blind tasting session @ Sk8viking] Spare light brown head. Fair display of lacework. Black color. Aroma of grain, molasses, chocolate, prune, date, licorice. Medium bodied with a light alcoholic texture and a flat carbonation. Light sweet flavor with moderated bitter notes. Bitter lingering finish. My #200 US! 07-09-2007

Black with tan brown head. Aroma is roast malt, coffee, and some wine like alcoholic qualities. Roasty, woody, almost burned malt. Finishes with huge alcohol and then a nice coffee finish after the alcohol leaves the palate. This one is hugely winelike to me.It is very creamy and pretty smooth besides the noticable alcohol. A little tobacco and leather comes through as well as a little bit of yeastiness? Or perhaps I am over analyzing this one. Who knows? Make up your own mind, but it is pretty good, and it will help me sleep tonight after an exciting day of football!
