One of the blackes blacks I’ve ever seen in a glass - no light getting through the liquid... The aroma is milk chocolate, toffee, dried raisins and figues. The taste on the other side is the beery equivalent to an perfectly served italian espresso. Very nice x-mas ale

Large, creamy, light brown, mostly lasting head, good lacing. Normal, dark brown body. Moderate malty aroma, with notes of roasted, nutty, molasses, milk chocolate and mild coffee. Moderate hoppy aroma, with notes of spruce, resin and orange. Light yeasty aroma, with notes of dough and sweat. Notes of date, toffee, vanilla and licorice. Moderate sweet, light bitter, light acidic and salty initial flavor. Long, light sweet, heavy bitter and moderate acidic finish. Medium to full body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Light alcoholic, moderate astringent finish. Very nice!

Bien noire ..

2008 bottle, thanks a lot Scheffel! Pours pitch black with an off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet candy, vanilla, brown sugar, melasses, dark chocolate, notes of coffee. Taste is thinner than the aroma indicates, light roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet finish. Doesn’t seem old at all.

Bottke 2008 courtesy of Christian. Pours pitch black with little brown head. Aroma of choco, vanilla, sugar, syrup, candy, light roast, light soy. Taste is very sweet, vanilla, candy a little dry. Very sipable.

Dark brown with light brown head. Rich nose and wonderful roasted taste. A beer to share on a cold December evening. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the 650 ml. bottle with a smudged stamped marking. Might be a date. Not sure. It pours almost black with a frothy, long lasting tan head. The aroma has wonderful roasted malt, mild chocolate, and barley notes with mellow hops and no booze. Smooth medium to bold body. The taste begins with a milk chocolate and malt sweetness and then the bitterness roars forward at the finish and leaves a kind of dry bite.

Excellent stout...I sure didn’t expect it! Paid 99 cents for this bomber out of a bargain bin and I’m glad I did.

Nice stout with a tan head that slowly resides. Toasty hops and malt with aromas of spice. Easy drinking and clean finish.
